When to Let Go: My Rule for Brow Razors
I still have a few of them because I alternate between them and my The Face Shop razors. And the other day, while I was going through my brushes to wash, I got the current ones I’m using to throw away.
It’s easy to determine if body razors need a replacement, but for smaller razors like these, it’s somewhat tricky, depending on how much you use them.
Of course, the obvious indication that it’s time to replace them is dullness. Additionally, here are a few things I watch out for to let me know that it’s time to replace them.
🔍 Signs it’s time to replace your brow razor
1. It starts tugging, not gliding
Even slightly. Brows are delicate, so I feel this immediately.
2. I need to go over the same spot multiple times
Before: one swipe
Now: 2–3 passes → blade is done
3. Skin gets irritated more easily after use
Redness, micro-stinging → not just my skin, it’s the blade. When I feel that burning sensation, time to chuck these into the bin.
4. It doesn’t give a clean line anymore
Brows look “fuzzy” instead of crisp
5. Visible buildup or discoloration on the blade
Even if I clean it, once it looks… tired?
That’s my cue.
And here’s my biggest concern:
🦠 About bacteria
This is a big deal for me because I have sensitive/MCAS skin.
👉 Bacteria can build up over time, especially if:
• used on damp skin
• stored in a humid bathroom
• not dried properly
⏳My Safe guideline based on my experience
•. Light use (brows only): every 3–4 weeks
• Frequent use: every 1–2 weeks
• If flare/sensitive skin: err on the side of replacing sooner
🧼 How I care for them
After every use:
• Rinse with water
• Gently wipe (I use a thick facial tissue)
If I don’t have time to rinse, I use a wet wipe.
Then:
• Spray or wipe with alcohol
• Let it air dry completely
Storage:
• Dry area
• Cap on
• Not loose in a drawer (dust + bacteria)
Lately, I’ve been writing about letting go of my things that don’t serve the woman I’m becoming. For items like this razor, I don’t wait for it to fail me. I replace it before it does…before it starts hurting me.
And that’s a simple but powerful act of loving me.
