Turning Errands Into a Luxe Escape at Greenbelt

Some days, errands feel like a marathon you just want to cross off your list. But lately, I’ve been finding ways to transform these moments into mini escapes. Instead of rushing through, I choose to savor the experience, notice little details, and enjoy the places I go. I had one of those days last week — a simple haircut errand turned into a Greenbelt adventure filled with style finds, food cravings, and little lessons on beauty and glow.

A Fresh Start at the Salon

I was getting ready for piano lessons when I received a text from my son's teacher canceling the lesson. We were supposed to go to Greenbelt the following day, but with this cancelation, I asked my son if he wanted to go today instead. He said yes.

I used my BYS Simply Nude palette for today's eye look:

We began our adventure with his haircut. There’s something satisfying about watching him sit in the chair, a little grown-up in the making. For me, grooming moments like this are a reminder that self-care doesn’t always have to be about me—it can also be about making sure the people I love feel neat, fresh, and confident too.

We've had the same stylist for over a decade. She's been cutting my son's hair since he was a toddler and has been styling my hair since I was single! It's always a treat to see her and her team and experience their wonderful service. It's my equivalent of a spa day.

A Quick Stroll Through Mango

After the salon, we walked over to Mango. Their display of bags and pouches instantly caught my eye. Textures, colors, and shapes—it’s like a playground for someone who loves details. I took home a few pieces.  I also took note of the other things I like that can inspire future outfits. These things remind me that style is also about appreciation, not just ownership.

I love so many things in their new collection!

I love Mango's clean lines on their wallets

Now that I look at this photo, I'm asking why I didn't get that black pouch?? I'm going out of town soon, and that's perfect for my things!

The H&M Skirt That Broke My Heart

Then came the heartbreak moment. I spotted a gorgeous pencil skirt at H&M’s window a week ago. I've been thinking about it for over a week, and finally I can buy it!  It wasn't in the window anymore, so we hunted it down. I was very happy to find it and grabbed one in my size and went to the fitting room. But when I fit it, reality hit—it was completely see-through! Even with a slip, it would show and bunch up in all the wrong places. I walked away disappointed, but also smiling because I got a cute top instead! Sometimes fashion teaches us that not everything that looks beautiful is practical, and glow is also about knowing what works for you. And sometimes, the wrong piece can lead you to discover a new piece that's perfect for you!

Ramen Time at Ippudo

When we finished at H&M, the sun was coming down. We haven't had lunch yet and my son said he wanted to eat at Ippudo.

The sunset and the lights at the pond were a beautiful combination

We saw this huge chess set on the way to the resto:

My son loves to play chess and he got a kick out of this

When we entered the restaurant, we were lead to the back. The server asked if we wanted sit at a table on the right. I looked and the table beside it was so wet! Something was leaking from the ceiling! Look at the tub of water! She wanted us to sit at that table with the reserved sign.

Something was also leaking from this side! See the other tub? I got annoyed (well, who wouldn't be?), and I asked the manager or supervisor why her staff wanted us to sit at the wet drippy tables? It's common sense! Who would want to sit at a wet table, with dirty water dripping on their heads and food? I mean, I just can't believe that the staff asked us that. The manager/supervisor apologized to us.

Here's what we ordered:

I can't remember what this dish is called, but it's pork. It was delicious, but then it became too sweet for me after a few bites.

Chicken karaage

I have yet to find a Japanese restaurant here that serves really good gyoza. I tasted one winged gyoza and said no. I did bring it home and ate it with a soy-calamansi dip.

Shoe Hunting at Charles & Keith

Our final stop was Charles & Keith. So many shoes caught my eye—elegant, chic, versatile styles that would’ve been perfect for my wardrobe. But heartbreak #2 of the day: all out of my size! Instead of frustration, I decided to enjoy the designs for what they were. Sometimes, the glow is in the hunt, in appreciating craftsmanship, even if nothing comes home with you.

I also found some interesting bags:

I overheard two friends talking. One lady asked her friend if she wanted that tiny bag. Her friend answered, "What am I going to put in there? It's so impractical!" High five, sister! (I am aware that these tiny purses are going viral, but it's just not for me)

Heading Home, Heart Full

We left Greenbelt without big shopping bags, but my heart was full. From Zac’s haircut to the small inspirations at Mango and my curated purchases, the lessons from H&M, the indulgence at Ippudo, and the shoe safari at Charles & Keith, the day reminded me that luxury isn’t always about purchases. It’s about experiences, memories, and the little joys hidden in everyday errands.

Errands don’t have to feel like chores. With the right mindset, they can become mini adventures—opportunities to treat yourself, explore, and notice beauty in the details. That’s the kind of glow I love: the one that comes not just from what you bring home, but from how you choose to live each moment.
