Soft Life Saturdays: Beauty, Shopping, Curated Purchases, and Holding It Together

This is gonna be a picture-heavy post so I might break it down into 2 or 3 parts.

I spent last Saturday shopping with my family. Of course I had to apply makeup before going out. And this was the perfect time to try out my new BYS Queen Bee palette!

BYS Queen Bee Palette Review

Let's unbox it, shall we?

A closer look at the eyeshadows:

I used Hive Mind, Dew, Sweet, and Pollen for this look.

I used my NARS Primer on my lids before applying the eyeshadows. They're very pigmented and blendable.

The palette is sturdy as it's a tin can. The mirror inside is wide and clear. The pink part that houses the eye shadows is plastic though, and feels flimsy. But I guess this is a more environment-friendly type of plastic. That's BYS commitment to the environment.

The only shade I won't be able to wear here is Lush. But everything else, I can incorporate them into day or night looks. I'll tell you more about it as we progress in my day.

While my son was having a haircut, I started my day by going to my favorite Greenbelt stores.

Marks & Spencer's

First stop, M&S where I got these:

We also got this pack of gum:

It was pretty good. My family enjoyed it after eating lunch.

Watsons

After M&S, I went to Watsons and got these:

I bought a pack of pretty tissues for my desk. I'm always at my desk. I work, eat, and apply makeup at my desk, so I thought to just put a small pack of tissue on it so that I wouldn't have to keep getting up to get some, especially when I'm applying makeup.

Pro tip: Always wipe your makeup brushes right after using them, especially if you used liquid makeup. They will be easier to deep clean.

The Peripera pouch and stickers were gifts with purchase.

This is the first time I'll be trying Peripera and Clio. My friend recommended them. Fingers crossed 🤞  we'll get good results.

Typo

I looked around Typo, too and found these:

I've been wanting these 2 huge bowls for some time now, but I just can't seem to justify the price. 😆

I am obsessed with water bottles. I bring 1 or 2 bottles whenever we go out. My son is a big water drinker, too.

Here's what stood out to me. I really love that green one in the middle.

I also like that white one in the middle shelf with the watercolor flowers.

And I wouldn't mind having one of these bejeweled bottles. But they're a pain to clean! Maybe if the mouth was bigger.

I was really surprised to find that Typo still sells cards! And they have a wide selection! I loved sending cards when I was in my teens and 20's. Now I feel like people just don't appreciate them anymore. I found my pretty stationery and notepads while decluttering, so I said, I'm going to write a short note to my godkids whenever I send them a present.

Ippudo

I told my boys to have a break first. It was almost 4 pm and we haven't eaten lunch yet. Finally, we were able to try Ippudo! We just keep passing by this restaurant whenever we're at Greenbelt because we always go to Pho Hoa.

We got the Salmondon. It had bits of chili so some parts were spicy, but my son was able to tolerate the spice...with lots of mango shake in between! This was delicious, though. I make a version of this at home whenever I'm too tired to cook. It's so easy to make with leftover salmon.

We also got the Shiromaru Tamago Ramen. This was delicious. The broth was really good. A funny thing happened. I asked the server what those brown strips are. I'm thinking woodear mushrooms. She asked one of the cooks and she said shiitake. I said, no, this is definitely not shiitake. 😆

My husband got the spicy ramen. I forgot what this is. Maybe Akamaru Ramen. He didn't finish it though because he wasn't hungry yet. He's in a lot of stress lately from work.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my Soft Life Saturday Shopping!

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
