Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam

I got this as a GWP last year from Etude House. I wanted to use this for my travels but when our usual TFS facial wash ran out, I had to bring this out to use because I can’t go out and get another tube at TFS. I used this only for 2 weeks because one day my husband went home with a TFS bag containing the facial wash. I never imagined he could go inside TFS and buy that. I was really surprised. Anyway, the first week of using this product was great. I didn’t experience any break outs, it didn’t make my skin oily and it made my face feel refreshed every time I used it. A week after, I started breaking out on my chin and forehead. I used this twice a day for 2 weeks straight. I'm not a huge fan of the smell but it will suffice. This is pretty big for a travel size tube. It will last me many travels. The cluster of pimples healed when I switched back to our regular facial wash. This went back to my travel toiletries drawer. I can use it for a few days, nothing longer to avoi...

May 2013 Empties

I’m really happy that I was able to finish a lot of makeup in May aside from the usual toiletries. The Face Shop Nail Polish Remover and Johnson’s Cooling Powder I don’t usually apply powders but May was really tough and nights were so unbearably hot. My husband would “bathe” himself in this cooling powder. He would then apply some on my back. We would have a bit of relief, enough to fall asleep. Etude House Surprise Liquid Concealer and NARS Palm Beach This concealer is one of the best budget concealers out there. Back when I reviewed the NARS Palm Beach, I said that it was too dark for me but when summer hit, it was the perfect shade so I’m glad that I hit pan before summer ends. I finally finished this annoying nail polish remover from Etude House! Will definitely NOT repurchase. I super love this hand cream from The Body Shop. I just don’t like the packaging as the sides burst open. I won’t repurchase as there are tons of products out there that have bet...

This week’s makeup box

I went to the doctor yesterday. I never imagined that I would look forward to hospital visits just so I can get out of the house for a few hours. Anyway, here’s what I used for my makeup. MAC Fix Rosebud Salve Estee Lauder Mascara Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper Shu Uemura BB Mousse Revlon Liquid Foundation Bobbi Brown Corrector Bobbi Brown Gel Liner Bobbi Brown Palette Too Faced Leopard Love Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler NARS 15 Palette UDPP Etude House Beauty Sponge Benefit Confessions of a Concealholic Revlon Bronzer/Blush Duo I used my Duwop Isla Sirena palette for my eyes and lips. I was really surprised that the lipstick turned out to be very pretty on my lips: Too bad it does not last long. I had to re-apply while I was still at home and when we got to the hospital my cousin handed me my Carmex. She said there was no more lipstick and my lips were chapping.

Nail polish – OPI for Sephora Urban Ballerina Stickers – Etude House

This week I’m obsessed with…

Etude House Jelly Pop Nail Top Coat, Body Treats Perfumed Hand Cream, Bench Sweet Serendipity Body Lotion I have a love-hate relationship with Jelly Pop. I used to hate it because it did nothing to protect my nail polish. Last week, I put on some nail stickers and decided to put a coat of Jelly Pop over them to protect them. Wow, it worked! My manicure lasted around 3 days and the stickers lasted longer! I’ve been doing some light cooking and washing and I was amazed that the stickers stayed intact. So yeah, I’m using this a lot nowadays. Next is the perfumed hand cream which is a pain to dispense but I insist on using because it smells so nice and it does a good job of moisturizing my hands. Finally, Sweet Serendipity again. I mentioned before that I will use this as a hand lotion but one night I was too lazy to get up to get my Sakura Bella lotion and just used this instead for my feet. Oh, wow! It gets easily absorbed by my feet unlike the Sakura Bella. I’ve been using...

A little help, please?

I have recently rediscovered my Etude House beauty sponge. I stopped using it because I didn’t have the time to wash it after using. I preferred my disposable sponges over it. Now that I have more time on my hands, I use it more often. I do have a problem though. It’s so hard to clean! I’ve had this problem since the beginning. I’ve tried cleaning it with Ivory soap and my Etude House makeup remover (Bubble Oil, I think) but it still has foundation stains all over. I’d like to continue using it (as it’s not necessarily cheap)  but the stains are really bothering me. If you have a similar product, I’d like to know how you clean it. Thank you ladies!

My Favorite Multitasking Products

I didn’t realize the importance of multitasking makeup until I got so busy with Hyphen and Table E last year. I now appreciate them and enjoy using them even on days when it’s not so harried. Here are my favorites: First is Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl. This is a highlighter but I used it as a primer before and it gave me that dewy look. I haven’t opened this tube yet because I still have a lot of highlighters to finish. Next is my Pot Rouge from Bobbi Brown. I only used this for my lips but then one day my cheeks were so dry that I needed a cream blush and this turned out to be the perfect shade. I now use it for my cheeks as well. I probably won’t be able to stop praising this Stila One Step. I am almost through with this bottle and I will really miss it once I hit pan. Finally, these two lip and cheek creams from Etude House. They are perfect for everyday use. I think these are limited edition. I haven’t seen any lip and cheek creams from the brand in a while. Oh, I almo...

This week, I’m obsessed with…

I was in the hospital yesterday and I’ve also been busy with work that’s why I haven’t been blogging. I received some good news yesterday from my doctors. I can now go out as long as I’m in a wheelchair and only for a short time say, just dinner. It’s still not ideal but I’d take that any day just to end this bed arrest. I am now on modified bed rest and that means I can do a little walking (like going to my mom’s room) and some light activities (cooking with some help from mom or MB). Things are really looking up for me. Anyway, here are the things that I’m obsessed with this week. First is the Sweet Serendipity lotion from Bench. I stopped using this for a while because it’s not appropriate for summer. I am now using this as a hand lotion and it’s just perfect. it’s easily absorbed by my hands so no sticky residue.  I’ve been reaching out for this every now and then. Next is my EOS tangerine. My lips improved last week but now they’re starting to chap again! So I’m usin...

What’s the least amount of makeup you can wear when going out?

I love makeup and I spend some time getting all dolled up before going out. The only times that I don’t wear any trace of makeup is when I am being rushed to the hospital. Other than that, you will always find me with a touch of makeup on my face. Here’s the least I can get away with: I have pimple marks on my face so I need to apply foundation or at least a BB cream. This is from Etude House and it’s a great product. I made a review of this product if you are interested. Before applying foundation or BB cream, I always apply a primer. I don’t feel comfortable without a primer. But on days when I need to get out the door fast, I just use the BB cream. I also use the Clinique Chubby Stick as my lips are super dry. I don’t need to apply lip balm anymore with this product. When I just have to run an errand or pick up my husband from work, I can get away with just the lip balm. If I still have a few minutes left, I would groom my brows: This is my Bobbi Brown palette and those...

Versailles Nails

You already know that I got the Etude House Princess Etoinette Versailles Nails collection. This is #02 Versailles Dress. Here are swatches: From top to bottom: Rococo Pink, Versailles Lavender, Dressy Purple.  I also used the nail stickers with each shade. I used the Jelly Pop top coat with the Rococo Pink. Big mistake. My nail polish was chipping the very next day. I didn’t apply any top coats for the other two shades and they lasted around 2-4 days each. This set costs a little over Php400. I like Etude House’s nail polish sets but sometimes they can be very expensive. This set will take a break until February as January is green nail polish month for me.

Princess Etoinette Lipstick

I’m sorry I can’t give you the exact shade of this lipstick. There are just too many serial numbers at the bottom of the tube that I can’t see the shade clearly. Plus, I’m too lazy to look for the box. It’s very easy to spot this shade in the boutique as this is the only bright lipstick in this collection (as far as I know, based on the colors presented to me). As most of you know, I got this in Cebu. I think there are only 2 shades left in the Market! Market! boutique. I just love that this line has my initial. = ) Here’s a swatch on my lips. The lipbalm underneath is Maybelline Baby Lips, the lighter pink one in my collection. This lipstick costs Php700+. I was shocked too. I’m disappointed with the color payoff and the lasting capability. It looks really nice in the photo because the Baby Lips already gave my lips a bit of color. I have to layer the lipstick to achieve that shade. Also, the color does not last long. Just a couple of hours or so then it’s gone and I...

Shopping!

I’m back ladies! My family and I went on a trip to Cebu last week. All we did there was eat and shop. Here are a few things I bought. So Fab! was on sale at SM Cebu and I found this pair of loafers that I wanted to buy a few months back here in Manila. They ran out of my size and I was lucky to find a pair in Cebu. Unfortunately it was not on sale even though it was directly under the 10% off sign. The SA said that only a few selected items were on sale. Well, that’s false advertising for you. My sister saw an Etude House boutique and immediately told me. Of course I had to go inside. I bought these: This is the Princess Etoinette collection that I’ve been dying to buy. Unfortunately, the blush line has not reached Cebu yet and when I checked Etude House here, they were out of stock already. I was also shocked at the prices of this collection. I only bought 2 things and my bill was Php1500! The clip is a GWP. I will post a review separately. And we had to buy...

Etude House Treatment Nail Salve

This is the last item in my Etude House haul. This also costs over Php200. I got this because my cuticles are very dry and I want to give my nails some TLC. The first time I used this, I applied it before I slept and in the morning, the area around my fingernails and toes were already peeling. It had that same effect for around 3 days and then the peeling stopped. I guess this product gets rid of old, dry skin to reveal a new layer of skin that is softer. I don’t cut my cuticles. I just push them back and I can say that this product has made my fingernails and toe nails better looking. I still have the occasional dryness but at least it’s not like before. I still use this treatment salve in my nightly rituals. Give your nails some love with the Etude House Help My Finger Treatment Nail Salve. This is great if you wear nail polish a lot.

Etude House Quick Dry Drop

This is also part of the Etude House haul I made a few weeks ago. This is different from other Quick Dry products. Why? Well, for one, it works! And in only under 60 seconds. I can apply nail polish anywhere as long as I have these drops. One tiny drop is enough for each nail.  In the box it says around 2-3 drops for each nail. That’s too much unless you have really big nails which I doubt. It costs over Php200. It’s affordable in my opinion because I will use this for a really long time. Don’t use this with the Jelly Pop top coat as your nail polish won’t last long. Use them separately. I only use this when I really have to change my chipped nail polish but have no time to dry it out. It gives your nails a nice shine, like you applied a top coat. I don’t use any top coats when I use these drops. My nail polish lasted a couple of days (with chores – lots of washing, etc.). It’s definitely a great buy if you’re a busy woman like me. = )

Jelly Pop

In one of my very old posts, I mentioned that I was looking for the perfect top coat. I know Seche Vite is at the top of the list but I didn’t want to buy an expensive top coat. That’s just me. I have nothing against Seche Vite. As a matter of fact, when I have the budget I will try it. So my search took me to Etude House where I found this Jelly Pop Nail Top Coat. I asked the SA if they had the fast drying top coat as that seems to be the best one I’ve tried. She offered this to me instead and said that it’s their best top coat. It costs around Php200+ so I got it. It really makes my nails glossy and gives it the appearance of jelly. You know how a gelatin gleams when hit by light? It kinda has that effect on my nails. The photo does not give it justice. You have to see the actual swatch to appreciate it. I can’t comment much about the lasting ability as I do a lot of typing and chores around the house so this pink manicure only lasted for a day. I’m wearing a diff...

Etude House Acetone-Free Nail Polish Remover

I was super intrigued when I discovered this product at Etude House. I’ve never seen a cream nail polish remover before. It costs over Php200 so I gave it a go. At first I thought it was going to be economical as I will avoid spills and excess product application. Boy, was I wrong. This is such a waste of money! I apply the product directly on my nail. It looks and feels like lotion, by the way. Then I rub my nail with a cotton pad. It took a few tries to remove my regular flat nail polish. On my first try, the nail polish wouldn’t budge so I used my finger to rub the product in and waited for a minute thinking that I might have to give the product time to settle/penetrate the nail polish. Wrong! I had to re-apply about 3-5 times to completely remove the polish on one nail. It takes sooo long to remove the nail polish. I was really frustrated so I went back to my TFS nail polish removers. The other night, I forgot to remove the nail polish on my toes and I just did my manicu...

Nude

I got this during my Etude House haul a few weeks ago. I super, super love it and I’ve been sporting it ever since I got it. I actually couldn’t wait to try this nail polish so I applied it while waiting at the car service. I also applied the top coat and quick dry drops included in the haul. I will post a review of them soon. This is SBE101. I’m not sure if that’s the shade or if it’s just a code. It costs either 98 or 198 pesos. Sorry, I couldn’t find the receipt. It lasts a fairly long time so the price is just right.

Weekend Hauls

I’ve been in so much stress for the past month and a half and I promised myself that I would go retail therapy last weekend. So I did. Saizen and Etude House hauls I got a few things from Saizen, Etude House and Watsons. From Saizen, I got the organizers which I will use for my wedding gig this coming weekend. I will also use the coral mat to line the table to prevent my things – brushes, lipsticks, etc. from slipping/rolling. I also got new food bowls for my cats which are not pictured here. I was originally planning to buy the Gommage scrub from Etude House but got carried away when I saw their new nail products. Good thing I was able to go back only to find out that the Gommage scrub has been out of stock for quite some time now. Anyway, I got an eyeshadow brush, also for the wedding gig, a nude nail polish which is really pretty, a cuticle treatment cream, a nail polish remover (the one in the tube), a top coat and a quick dry serum. I was intrigued with the nail po...

Color My Brows

I’ve only tried 3 products for my brows – Bobbi Brown’s Brow Shaper, MAC’s Girl Boy and Etude House Color My Brows. When I really like a product, I tend to find substitutes for it in case it gets out of stock. In this case, I was looking for a substitute for Girl Boy. I found it at Etude House. I have colored hair so naturally, I have to color my brows. This shade is #2. If you have black brows, don’t expect them to be that exact shade on the wand. Your brows will just lighten up a bit. Girl Boy is still better for temporarily coloring your brows. It still works though. It costs around Php300 if I’m not mistaken. Way cheaper than Girl Boy. It lasts a fair amount of time. I’m just not sure if the product inside dries up quickly or the tube is not full. When I first opened this, I had a hard time applying the product to my brows so I had to apply several times. Now it’s just 2-3 times per brow. If you are looking for a good eye brow shaper that’s affordable, I give this...

The Madness Never Stops

Watsons was on sale again last weekend. I was able to visit on the last day of the sale, which was yesterday. I got a few things: It’s cheap and it’s Sesame Street Staple in the kitchen sink The Marionnaud brush is a dual ended brush. One end is for the eyebrows, the other a slanted brush. I only use the eyebrow brush. It served me a long time. It’s cheap at only 59.75 pesos. Good thing they re-stocked the Kleenex oil blotters as it was sold out the last time I went there. It, too, is on sale. I got this as a GWP: I also bought other things: I thought Etude House in SM was on sale when I got the eye makeup remover. Turns out, it’s 10% off for every 1,500 purchase. The Ellana brush cleaner is my favorite cleanser. It was out of stock for a few months and then yesterday I was shocked at the price – Php320. I compared this new bottle to my old bottle and it is smaller and more expensive. If you know any good brush cleaners, I would appreciate a shoutout. ...
