I’m Done with Beautiful Things That Say Nothing

There’s a point where beautiful things stop being enough. I began noticing what they’re not saying. What they don’t carry. What they leave behind. And once I saw it— it’s hard to go back to wearing things that feel empty. A few pairs of earrings were the catalyst.  I didn’t pay much attention.  But something about that museum visit lit a fire in me.  As if my ancestors were whispering to me through the fabrics that they wove with their hands.  And then we went to Vigan .  And I saw many handcrafted goods. Some were for the kitchen.  Some were decor.  And some, for wearing. I entered a store that sold inabel pieces.  They were beautiful.  But very expensive.  After owning a piece,  I now know why. I treated my inabel skirt as something very special.  I initially wanted to save it for special occasions.  But one day, I visited the boutique that made my skirt. I was talking to the sales attendant when this elderly...

My Quest for the Perfect Travel Bag

We just got back from a week's stay in Baguio. This is our third time there in the last 6 months. It was both work and vacation for me and my family. A few days before going there, I looked for a crossbody bag to bring. When we went there in March, I had a hard time bringing all our stuff. It was just my son and I with my mom and sis. My son can't do a lot of heavy lifting yet. On our first trip, I bought my big tan Charles and Keith bag thinking that I can use it as both my personal bag and shopping bag. I was wrong. I ended up with sore shoulders because the bag itself is already too heavy. On our second trip, I used my burgundy Charles and Keith bag but that too proved to be a failure. I needed free hands and free shoulders because of my backpack and other things that I needed to hang there like totes and stuff. A bulky shoulder bag is not the way to go. So, on our third trip, I was determined to find a crossbody bag that was light, small enough not to interfere with the oth...

A Bunch of Different Hauls

I got a few things for MB, the baby and me! got MB some socks I couldn’t resist these tin cans! They have candies inside. There are many variants. I wanted to buy all of them but controlled myself. The ones in the left tin can are sour candies. In the right are cupcake flavored candies. This is for my son. I was actually surprised that the fan is strong enough to cool my baby’s face. My son really enjoyed this. I say enjoyed because my god daughter enjoyed playing with it as well so we just gave it to her. I asked hubby to buy one later. More teethers more socks I got a brush cleaner because Ellana is no longer available in SM Makati. I hope this won’t disappoint considering its price tag. baby shampoo Got this quilted bag from Girbaud for myself. The leather on my Aranaz is slowly peeling away so I need a new basic  bag. Got this dress from Mango. I am slowly building up my wardrobe again as it really shrank when I ...

Baby Stuff and a Few Trinkets

It seems that there is a never ending need to shop for baby stuff. Every single day I find things that I need to replace, I need to add more to and just things that I need to have for my baby. Here are things we bought a couple of weeks ago. My doctor told me that I need to buy a carrier because my baby is becoming heavier. He likes to be carried a lot and it takes a toll on my back, shoulders and arms. I can’t have that because I might get sick so yes, I’m a good patient and bought one. Got these to make feeding time faster when we are out and about pillow cases I got another one of these to organize my son’s toys. I promised myself that I will never buy Avon stuff again. I broke that promise when I found out that my staff is an Avon Lady. I wanted to help her out so I ordered these: Just look at the pretty box! Inside are a few pairs of pretty earrings: This will be my last Avon purchase. I can guarantee that. By...

Hyphen Love

Hyphen Love

Sorry for all the crease. I didn’t bother ironing this as I tossed it in the laundry basket after I took a photo. I’ve lost 17 pounds since I gave birth so I am slowly rebuilding my wardrobe. I gave away more than half of my wardrobe when I got pregnant so I need new clothes. I haven’t been going out much except to go to the hospital so there’s no rush. I am still on house arrest until my bleeding stops or until my next checkup. My doctor will be the one to decide when I can go back to my normal routine of doing errands, etc. She says to take it easy for 3 months before doing house chores. I can’t wait for those 3 months to be over so that I can do some cleaning and sprucing up in our home. It has been neglected for so long. Anyway, back to the stuff. Mom also has the same pair on the right. I’m itching to do some bag and shoe shopping next. I can’t wait!
