This week’s makeup box

I went to the doctor yesterday. I never imagined that I would look forward to hospital visits just so I can get out of the house for a few hours. Anyway, here’s what I used for my makeup. MAC Fix Rosebud Salve Estee Lauder Mascara Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper Shu Uemura BB Mousse Revlon Liquid Foundation Bobbi Brown Corrector Bobbi Brown Gel Liner Bobbi Brown Palette Too Faced Leopard Love Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler NARS 15 Palette UDPP Etude House Beauty Sponge Benefit Confessions of a Concealholic Revlon Bronzer/Blush Duo I used my Duwop Isla Sirena palette for my eyes and lips. I was really surprised that the lipstick turned out to be very pretty on my lips: Too bad it does not last long. I had to re-apply while I was still at home and when we got to the hospital my cousin handed me my Carmex. She said there was no more lipstick and my lips were chapping.

My Tried and Tested Stay-All-Day Products

Thank God it’s Friday! I look forward to Fridays even though my husband and I both have work on Saturdays. Maybe it’s a leftover euphoric feeling from back when I still worked in the corporate world. Or maybe I’m just excited to have my husband all to myself the following day. Whatever it is, Friday is one of the best days ever! For you other ladies out there, Friday is a time to kick back and relax after work. You meet with your girlfriends or boyfriend and spend a relaxing Friday night. Now if you are going from work to party, I suggest you use stay-all-day products. I love applying makeup but I’m a bit lazy when it comes to touch ups so I always invest in long-lasting products. Here are my tried and tested ones. Bobbi Brown BB Cream When my skin is behaving, this product really stays on all day. Usually, I only have to apply powder on my T-zone and that’s it. This is an expensive BB cream that is totally worth the price. Too Faced Shadow Insurance My magic potion to make...

Why Shadow Insurance is my favorite primer and not UDPP

Before I tried Too Faced Shadow Insurance, I was really hooked on UDPP. I was really amazed with this product. Then I tried Shadow Insurance and discovered a few faults with the UDPP. First off, the packaging. The old UDPP bottle posed a lot of problems. The product inside gets concentrated in the middle. When I asked MB to cut it in half, I got enough product to fill a small jar. The problem was, it dried up quickly. Second is the applicator. Sure it’s great if the product came in a tube, like a lip gloss. But the doe foot applicator was useless for me when it came to scooping out the primer. There are no issues like these with the Shadow Insurance because it comes in a squeeze-type tube. Sure Urban Decay revamped UDPP’s packaging to a tube but I still have problems with it. The product still dries up quickly. I got this Shadow Insurance tube before the UDPP tube and the UDPP is drying out already whereas the Shadow Insurance only needs a few shakes and it’s like new. As you...

Unexpected Lip Colors I’ve Come to Love

I’ve always been a pink lipstick kind of girl because that’s what my mom always wore. Then I grew up and added red to my collection. But that was it – pinks and reds. I’ve never ventured into the unknown world of bright pinks or browns or neutrals. Then I studied makeup artistry and I was introduced to a whole new world of color. Here are some unexpected lip colors that I never dreamed I would wear but have come to love. Bobbi Brown Bikini Pink, MAC Koi, Kiss Me, Too Faced, NARS Schiap, Kiss Me. Here are swatches: I don’t wear these everyday, only on special occasions and when I feel extra glam. The most used shade is Bikini Pink although I have to top this off with my pot rouge to make it pop. Schiap turns into a deep pink on my lips because I’m acidic. The neutrals are great and I have yet to use the Too Faced Luster Liner.

My Favorite Too Faced Products

I’m trying to review/make an inventory of my makeup and I’m trying to figure out which ones I like and would likely repurchase and the ones that I won’t repurchase anymore. With Too Faced, here are my favorite products. First of all, Shadow Insurance is my favorite eyeshadow primer. I have a backup of this plus the lemon variant which I still need to try. I love the shades in the Pixie Pin-Ups palette and in January, I used this and the Romantic Eye palette almost daily. This is the Romantic Eye palette. Some shades are for daily use while the others are for adding an extra oomph to your look. Too Faced eyeshadows are not the same quality as Urban Decay shadows but they do a nice job. I like them for every day use. I won’t repurchase the palettes as it will take a long time for me to finish them plus I still have a ton more in my collection. I will repurchase Shadow Insurance though once my stock runs out.

Too Faced Natural Eye EOTD’s Part III

Here’s the last EOTD for the Too Faced Natural Eye palette: I used Nude Beach, Honey Pot and Cocoa Puff for this EOTD. It looks similar to the last EOTD. I have no idea why the pinks turned out to be browns in the photos. I made this look one morning that is why my brows and lashes are not made up. I also didn’t bother applying concealer and foundation to the area around my eye as I was (and still am) on bed/house arrest. I used my ELF primer for this look which did a great job of making the colors pop and holding them together. These shades are so shimmery so they are definitely for a night look. I consider myself a bit adventurous when it comes to make up but I wouldn’t wear this combination during the day. Maybe one shadow combined with other matte shadows is cool. The shadows are chalky and it hurts when they enter my eye so tapping the brush before application is a must. You also need a fan brush to sweep away all those fallouts when you’re done. I like ...

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette EOTD’s Part II

Here are more EOTD’s I made using the second row of this palette: Here’s the second row. The base should be pink but it looks brown in the photos: The shades used are Silk Teddy, Push-Up and Erotica. The first two shadows are shimmery and a bit chalky so I have to tap the brush a couple of times to avoid fallouts. Stay tuned for part 3!

Too Faced Natural Eye Review and Eye Looks

I got this Too Faced Natural Eye palette from Hyphen. It was damaged by one of the customers and my former employee tried to hide that information from me. Anyway, that’s the past and I’ve since moved on. Shades: L-R, T-B: Heaven, Velvet Revolver, Sexpresso, Silk Teddy, Push-Up, Erotica, Nude Beach, Honey Pot and Cocoa Puff. These shadows are very different from those in the Naked palette. There are only 3 matte shadows in this palette. The rest are shimmery ones especially the ones at the bottom. I need a good primer to make the matte ones last the whole day. I have no problems with the shimmery ones in terms of staying power although they have a lot of fall outs. A lot of girls would shy away from this palette because of the shimmery shadows. I like them although they are not the same quality as the Urban Decay eye shadows. They’re quite easy to blend too. I’ve been using them frequently and I’m quite happy with this palette. There are guide cards inserted in the flap to ...

Glamour to Go Fairy Edition

This is the Too Faced Glamour to Go Fairy Edition Palette: This is also one of my travel palettes. I use this with the Estee Lauder palette whenever I travel. The eyeshadow shades go well with Estee Lauder’s. It has 8 eyeshadows, 1 blush, 1 lipstick and 1 bronzer. It also has a big mirror but no brushes. Here are swatches: Color payoff is much better than the EL palette. This is also a day to night palette. We carried this at Hyphen. This palette was damaged so I got it for myself. I fixed the broken brown eyeshadow by applying alcohol and pressing it. I can’t remember what I used to press it but if you have a circular pan, you can use a coin. just be sure to wash the coin first and sanitize it then wrap it in tissue then press. You can also just use your fingers. I love the blush in this palette. I use it alone or blend it with the EL blush. The lipstick also has a nice neutral look. The bronzer is what I like best with this palette. I used to skip bronzers for my...

Too Faced Leopard Love

This product has been around for a while now but I have only recently tried it. This is the last of my Leopard Love stock from Hyphen so I got it for myself. I don’t regret getting this last palette. I should have done it sooner! As you can see, the bronzer is the most used in the bunch. Here are swatches: From left to right: highlighter, blush, bronzer. You can barely see the bronzer but it’s perfect for every day use. I was actually worried about the colors – brown and orange; purple, brown and champagne. Well, who wouldn’t be, right? I didn’t know how it would look like on my face but once I applied it, I was surprised. I only need a small amount for the blush and highlighter but I really have to layer the bronzer to contour my face. This is great to pack in your bag when you travel. I will definitely bring this next year when I go out of town. I love this product but I can’t wait to finish it. Why? Because there are tons of products out there that I’m excited to try...

October Cosmetics

As mentioned in my previous post,  I will be grouping my cosmetics monthly so that I will be able to use all of them. If you only knew how much cosmetics I have! I really want to use and finish them all. So I hope I can have good results with this experiment. Here are my October Cosmetics: I know it looks chaotic but don’t worry! I grouped them and took individual photos. Let’s start with the face: I seriously need to finish my Laura Mercier cream foundation (Bamboo Beige). It’s hanging by a thread and I think I only have 3 uses left for this tube. Next is the Palgantong Powder in Pearl Beige. I haven’t used this yet although I have used it on my clients. Let’s see if it can at least live with my acidic face for a couple of hours. This Benefit That Gal primer is also hanging by a thread so I better finish it fast. Next is Benefit High Beam and ELF HD Undereye Setting Powder (to be blogged soon). Lastly, the Benefit Confessions of a Concealaholic kit. This is another produc...
