It Started with Some Earrings

And a pair of barrettes It started quietly. With a few pairs of earrings. Nothing dramatic or loud. No grand declarations.  Nothing that felt like a turning point at the time. Just something I picked up during a visit to Museo Kordilyera in Baguio — handmade pieces, woven from stories I didn’t fully understand yet, but somehow felt. I wore them every now and then. Not out of intention. Just because they were there. But something had already shifted. Not in how I dressed— but in how I started to see what I was wearing. I became brand conscious.  Not how the world perceives that term. But I was becoming conscious that I was wearing too many brands.  Too much fast fashion. I never understood how a shirt with a heart with eyes on it could cost Php5,000 (about $82). (I’m not throwing shade at you if you like wearing expensive, branded things. You do you! 😊  This is my story.)  But as an artist and creator,  I do understand the hard work and creati...

Soft Life Saturdays: Beauty, Shopping, Curated Purchases, and Holding It Together Part 3 Feat Massive Mumuso Haul

This is Part 3 of this post. Read Part 1 here . Part 2 here .  After buying stuff for my son, I went to Mumuso and got these: This is for my son's music sheets.  We got this fan as a GWP.  S&R After that, we just did groceries at S&R Back Home I was so tired when we got home, but I'm a mom so Mom Crown on. I had to put away all the groceries by myself as my husband received a call from the office.  Then, I washed the dishes from breakfast. I bought this corned beef from NoBrand and decided to just cook it for dinner.  This is the first time we're tasting this. There was a small amount of corned beef in this can. There was a big percentage of it with just lard.  The corned beef is sweet. It doesn't taste like gyudon. It's just corned beef that's sweet. My son and I liked it. (Or maybe we were just hungry? 😆) My husband didn't. He says it's weird because it's sweet. Well, that's why it's gyudon flavored corned beef, bruh. I also heate...

Soft Life Saturdays: Beauty, Shopping, Curated Purchases, and Holding It Together Part 2

This is part 2. If you'd like to read part 1 first, head on over here I forgot to say in part 1 that I went to Charles and Keith to buy a pair of shoes. After lunch, we went to H&M to look for clothes for my son but didn't find any in his size. On the way back to Greenbelt, we stopped by Ayala Museum's free section. They were having an exhibit about water. I told my son that we should go because we once discussed this in our homeschool.  Ayala Museum I love this painting This part, where women and girls carry the burden of water collection in some countries, really struck my online students when we discussed this in Ancient Civilizations. This stayed with them. By the way, if you didn't know, I used to teach the students in my homeschool group online. 😊 If you're homeschooling, drop by Ayala Museum to check out this exhibit. The entrance is on the bridgeway to Greenbelt. They regularly have free exhibits in that part of the museum.  Circuit Mall: Uniqlo and Ske...

Soft Life Saturdays: Beauty, Shopping, Curated Purchases, and Holding It Together

This is gonna be a picture-heavy post so I might break it down into 2 or 3 parts.  I spent last Saturday shopping with my family. Of course I had to apply makeup before going out. And this was the perfect time to try out my new BYS Queen Bee palette!  BYS Queen Bee Palette Review Let's unbox it, shall we? A closer look at the eyeshadows: I used Hive Mind, Dew, Sweet, and Pollen for this look.  I used my NARS Primer  on my lids before applying the eyeshadows. They're very pigmented and blendable.  The palette is sturdy as it's a tin can. The mirror inside is wide and clear. The pink part that houses the eye shadows is plastic though, and feels flimsy. But I guess this is a more environment-friendly type of plastic. That's BYS commitment to the environment.  The only shade I won't be able to wear here is Lush. But everything else, I can incorporate them into day or night looks. I'll tell you more about it as we progress in my day.  While my son was havin...
