This week’s makeup box

I went to the doctor yesterday. I never imagined that I would look forward to hospital visits just so I can get out of the house for a few hours. Anyway, here’s what I used for my makeup. MAC Fix Rosebud Salve Estee Lauder Mascara Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper Shu Uemura BB Mousse Revlon Liquid Foundation Bobbi Brown Corrector Bobbi Brown Gel Liner Bobbi Brown Palette Too Faced Leopard Love Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler NARS 15 Palette UDPP Etude House Beauty Sponge Benefit Confessions of a Concealholic Revlon Bronzer/Blush Duo I used my Duwop Isla Sirena palette for my eyes and lips. I was really surprised that the lipstick turned out to be very pretty on my lips: Too bad it does not last long. I had to re-apply while I was still at home and when we got to the hospital my cousin handed me my Carmex. She said there was no more lipstick and my lips were chapping.

My Tried and Tested Stay-All-Day Products

Thank God it’s Friday! I look forward to Fridays even though my husband and I both have work on Saturdays. Maybe it’s a leftover euphoric feeling from back when I still worked in the corporate world. Or maybe I’m just excited to have my husband all to myself the following day. Whatever it is, Friday is one of the best days ever! For you other ladies out there, Friday is a time to kick back and relax after work. You meet with your girlfriends or boyfriend and spend a relaxing Friday night. Now if you are going from work to party, I suggest you use stay-all-day products. I love applying makeup but I’m a bit lazy when it comes to touch ups so I always invest in long-lasting products. Here are my tried and tested ones. Bobbi Brown BB Cream When my skin is behaving, this product really stays on all day. Usually, I only have to apply powder on my T-zone and that’s it. This is an expensive BB cream that is totally worth the price. Too Faced Shadow Insurance My magic potion to make...

My Must-Have Products for Women in their 30’s

I’m 31 and as I get older, my product collection evolves. I’m lucky that I learned to take care of my skin at an early age. The only thing that wrecked my skin was my bout with steroids but I’m slowly recovering from it. I’d like to share with you my must-have products. Moisturizer First is skin care. If you don’t have a concrete skin care regime yet, you better start now. Anti-aging products are popular during this age but I think I’m allergic to them so I choose my products carefully. A good moisturizer is a must-have and.. Eye Cream Stress can take a toll on our features, especially our eye area and you need a good product to combat that. Eye Liners Women in their 30’s can get away with bold cat eyes so you better have the tools to make them. You can choose liquid, gel or the good old reliable pencil. Cheek Tint You need some color in your cheeks and a good cheek tint can give you a healthy flush. It’s also good if you have dry skin. Beauty Oil I didn’t ...

Time for a Summer Makeup Kit Makeover! (Part 2)

Continuing with our series, the next products you need are bronzers: You can use a cream bronzer (my current favorite) or you can stick to your regular powder-based bronzer: Remember that one tends to get darker during summer so you may need to change your shade. Bronzers look amazing especially if you have tanned skin from all that beach hopping! If you’re going to the beach, don’t forget to take your favorite bronzer with you. Opt for cream ones that have a bit of shimmer so you sparkle when the sun hits you. Next are cheek colors. Now I find that powder blushes are not enough during summer especially if you have oily skin. You need to layer your colors so they stay longer. I prefer using a lip and cheek cream or a cheek tint like Cha Chat Tint from Benefit. To avoid that sticky feeling with cream blushes, I set it with powder blushes in almost the same shade. I say almost because I enjoy mixing them up. By the way, Cha Chat Tint is the perfect summer shade for me! You...

Time for a Summer Makeup Kit Makeover! (Part 1)

Summer is really crazy here in Manila! I kinda wish I was still working in an office where there is air conditioning for 9 hours. I don’t know how I’m surviving this heat. I can’t even go to the mall to cool down. Anyway, since it’s summer, I’m sure that everyone has changed their wardrobe to fit the temperature. But, have you thought about giving your makeup kit a makeover? You should! Here are my tips for a summer makeup kit. First, you need a bright summery makeup kit. I just found out that I don’t have any summer makeup kits! My Kenzo kit is the closest one I got and it does not even remind me of summer…it reminds me of spring (or Christmas even)! Next, use whatever foundation you are comfortable wearing but if you can find a brightening sun powder, add this to your kit. I use the brightening sun powder from Laneige. This is SPF50+ PA+++. It looks new because I keep forgetting to use it. I should really put this in my kit. This powder smells so good. Then for the eyes, ...

Why Shadow Insurance is my favorite primer and not UDPP

Before I tried Too Faced Shadow Insurance, I was really hooked on UDPP. I was really amazed with this product. Then I tried Shadow Insurance and discovered a few faults with the UDPP. First off, the packaging. The old UDPP bottle posed a lot of problems. The product inside gets concentrated in the middle. When I asked MB to cut it in half, I got enough product to fill a small jar. The problem was, it dried up quickly. Second is the applicator. Sure it’s great if the product came in a tube, like a lip gloss. But the doe foot applicator was useless for me when it came to scooping out the primer. There are no issues like these with the Shadow Insurance because it comes in a squeeze-type tube. Sure Urban Decay revamped UDPP’s packaging to a tube but I still have problems with it. The product still dries up quickly. I got this Shadow Insurance tube before the UDPP tube and the UDPP is drying out already whereas the Shadow Insurance only needs a few shakes and it’s like new. As you...

The Urban Decay Feminine Palette

One of the perks of having your own beauty store is you get to try different beauty products at no cost. And being a beauty junkie, nothing goes to waste. This is the old version of the Urban Decay Feminine palette. I think the only difference with the new version is the case. What I love about palettes is the value for money that I get. With this palette, I got the 24/7 liner which I probably can’t live without. It’s my every day liner. I already finished my duo which came with the NAKED palette so I’m using this liner now. Here are swatches: Most of my clients prefer the Dangerous palette over this one. I think it’s because of the pastel colors. Filipinas like either neutral colors or dark colors for smokey eyes to wear at night functions. If you’ve been a long-time follower of this blog, you’d know that I love color. I don’t mind donning different colored eye shadows every day. I am just not a neutral girl. From left to right is Ecstacy, Darkhorse, Aquarius, Mid...

October Cosmetics

As mentioned in my previous post,  I will be grouping my cosmetics monthly so that I will be able to use all of them. If you only knew how much cosmetics I have! I really want to use and finish them all. So I hope I can have good results with this experiment. Here are my October Cosmetics: I know it looks chaotic but don’t worry! I grouped them and took individual photos. Let’s start with the face: I seriously need to finish my Laura Mercier cream foundation (Bamboo Beige). It’s hanging by a thread and I think I only have 3 uses left for this tube. Next is the Palgantong Powder in Pearl Beige. I haven’t used this yet although I have used it on my clients. Let’s see if it can at least live with my acidic face for a couple of hours. This Benefit That Gal primer is also hanging by a thread so I better finish it fast. Next is Benefit High Beam and ELF HD Undereye Setting Powder (to be blogged soon). Lastly, the Benefit Confessions of a Concealaholic kit. This is another produc...
