Kiss Me…

..Cosmetics that is. This is the Heroine Make 5th Anniversary Mascara and Remover set from Hyphen . I’ve been using this in a lot of my EOTD’s lately because it’s more gentle on my eyes compared to my other mascaras. The mascara delivers length and volume.  I like the fact that it doesn’t clump and doesn’t dry up easily. The remover is a bonus although it’s a bit awkward to use it. It also has a wand. It looks like a mascara but instead of making your lashes darker, it brings it back to normal. I have absolutely no idea if I’m doing it correctly but I apply this remover as though I’m applying mascara then I wipe it off using a cotton pad. I also wipe off the wand before putting it back in the tube. I think this is good if you’re on the go but I find it useless for everyday use.   My regular makeup remover removes everything. Using this remover is just an extra step. It is quite effective though. Here’s the mascara wand: It does a nice job of separating my lashe...

Waterproof Length

I have this thing for trying out different mascaras. I can’t just stick to one. I think if you’re a long-time follower of this blog, you’ve already noticed that. I’ve had my share of ups and downs with mascaras but this one is definitely an up: It says “length and waterproof” on the cover. Both check. I need to use my oil based Etude House Lip & Eye makeup remover for this. For the length part, see Exhibit A: This was taken right after I applied the mascara. Does it last? See Exhibit B: This was taken in the afternoon while I was on duty in our booth. There’s nothing special about the wand but it works: What I like about this mascara is there are no annoying smells, it doesn’t clump and it doesn’t claim all that hullabaloo. It does what it says – it lengthens and it’s waterproof. The wand is a bit thin though and I always fear that it might snap so I always carefully put this back into the tube. It doesn’t smudge on my lower eye area so that’s really good news as ...

My First Anna Sui

This is also another post that I owe Kitten . I got this Anna Sui Super-Black Full Mascara on my recent trip abroad. I asked the SA if this was waterproof and she said, “No, it’s water resistant! You can go swimming and it will remain on your lashes” Taray!   So I got one and I also got the beauty box that I showed you in my recent vanity post. This is indeed super black and I love it! Although it’s water resistant, it’s easy to remove with my Etude House Mascara and Lip & Eye Makeup removers. I love the fact that it didn’t make my lashes fall out (remember Maybelline?) and it didn’t make my eyes itch. It withstood a whole day (and night) of shopping. Here’s the wand: It’s quite long, longer than my regular mascaras. I have a couple of problems though. One is, I think because it’s a thick mascara, it clumps up on the edge of the wand. Another thing is it dries super slow. I always end up with a few smudges on my under eye area. To remedy that, I blot it to get rid of th...

The Falsies

The Maybelline Falsies was quite the eye catcher in the recently held SuperSale Bazaar at The Grove by Rockwell. Why wouldn’t it with its striking color and intriguing name? I didn’t plan on using this mascara, well, because I’m supposed to sell it! But one day I found that my Magnum was drying up and clumping like crazy so I decided to raid my stocks. I’m very happy that I did. Hyphen only carries the regular Falsies and I was worried that with the heat, it will run off all over my lids and face. But I was really surprised that it holds up quite nicely. Of course it will rub off with water but I still need to use a mascara remover to completely clean my eyes so I guess it’s not completely water washable. I’m very happy that it doesn’t make my eyes itch. It’s only recently that I’ve noticed that after several hours of wearing The Magnum, my eyes itch. The Falsies doesn’t do that even after a long day at the bazaar. Here’s how it looks like on me: It doesn’t make my lashes lo...

Failed Perfection

I had very high hopes for this mascara, what for its price and all but it turned out to be a complete disaster. I thought that since almost all the Maybelline mascaras that I’ve tried rocked, this one will surpass them all. After all, it’s the most expensive at Php699. I love the packaging. Black and gold always looks sleek and sexy in my book.  Here’s the wand: There’s nothing special there except for the vibrating effect. The neck is made of flimsy material. I thought it would break the first time I used it. I accidentally struck the case with the head of the wand and the neck bended a little. You just push a button at the end of the cap to make it vibrate. It’s not a big vibration. I almost feel that the vibration is useless as the mascara still clumps up on my lashes. Those are the most clumps that I’ve ever experienced with a mascara. Even the ELF mascara didn’t clump like that. This is the reason why I didn’t take a photo. Even after blotting with a tissue, there w...

Sooo not waterproof…

elf Waterproof Lengthening and Volumizing Mascara I am fascinated with elf cosmetics because they are so affordable and most perform well that is why I was so disappointed with this purchase. My number one requirement when buying mascaras is it should be waterproof as I have very sensitive eyes. I don’t want mascara running into my eyes and smudging everywhere. Unfortunately, this product did just that – smudge everywhere and made me look like I have dark circles around my eyes. But, in fairness to the product, it did give my lashes some lengthening effect. It made my eyes itch at times and it smudges with just a little rub. I can remove this with a regular makeup remover, sweat (yeah) and of course, water and facial wash! What I do love though is the sleek, sexy packaging. The wand is so, so. The mascara dries up fast and forms large chunks on the wand. I have to wipe the wand with a tissue to get rid of the chunks. I only used this mascara thrice. Never again. It costs Php2...
