Why I Stopped Bringing My Expensive Makeup Out..and My Current Beauty Kit

I used to bring my favorite makeup with me. Not the backups. Not the “just in case” products. The  good ones.

Lipstick Organization

I mentioned in my previous post that I was having problems with my lipstick organizer. This is my old one: I have a few of these because I used them at the store. They also became too bulky for our display and so I switched to acrylic organizers. I used one for my personal collection but as you can see, that didn’t go too well too. The holes are round. My lipsticks have different shapes and sizes so I couldn’t fit everything. They also don’t look very nice that way. This organizer is also so hard to clean and keeps attracting dust. Dust just accumulates inside the holes. This is made of wood, by the way. This is my collection now: Left – Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, NARS, MAC. Right – Clinique, Shu Uemura, Estee Lauder, Kiss Me, Revlon. I still have around 20+ lippies that need a home. For the time being, I put some in the lower compartment. The others don’t fit. I will buy 2 more of these. I will put my lip balms and lipstick pots on the lower compartm...

All my (makeup) bags are packed… Part 3

Finally, my ever reliable Armani bag where I put all the essentials: I need to bring cotton pads, cotton buds, facial tissues and a lot of sponges! Did you know that cotton pads are better to use on your face than regular cotton balls? Cotton pads are smoother and more compact so they don’t leave any residue and don’t scratch your face. Cotton balls are the opposite. Of course, my tool belt and mirror: And another pouch for other tools: I originally purchased this pouch for my brushes but since the Muji bag has a brush holder, I opted to put my other tools here. I actually don’t need a setting spray as it’s going to be a fast, hectic shoot. Makeup will change several times. I just put my Urban Decay All Nighter there so I wouldn’t lose it. This product is awesome and if you’re wondering where to get it, check out Hyphen . And the last pouch that I will be bringing is my Agness B. which is missing a red chain. I think I lost that somewhere in my room in Singapore… :...

All my (makeup bags) are packed… Part 2

I will be bringing 3 bags. The gig is out of town so I want to make sure that I have everything covered. This is the second bag which is my traincase. I’m not sure if I already showed this to you in a previous post but here it is anyway: This is the top level which houses “eye stuff”: On the left are “face stuff”: Right side, a jumble of stuff: And in the center, yup, you guessed it! Yes, that’s the Urban Decay Book of Shadows III. It was available at Hyphen but I sold out on the last bazaar: Stay tuned for part 3!

All my (makeup) bags are packed…

I’m ready to go to my makeup gig tomorrow! I only have one traincase so I put the other makeup in my megabox but the plastic container couldn’t support the weight so I went to Muji yesterday in search for the perfect makeup bag. Lo and behold: (I wanted to do a video post on this but I’m still too lazy as I just woke up.) Edit: This was supposed to be uploaded this morning but the Internet was so freaking slow. I love this bag because it’s lighter than a regular traincase. It has no divisions inside but nothing a little creativity wouldn’t fix. There are 4 compartments outside the bag. I put my falsies in the front pockets. Here’s the cover inside, another compartment: This is the top portion: On the right side I have my palettes and the huge toner from Etude House: More palettes underneath plus  my Revlon Photo Ready foundies and lippies: The other lippies are already on the palette with the silver clasp on the left. I hate bringing tubes. There are holde...

More Makeup Organization

I’ve acquired more makeup since I showed you my Muji Drawer so I needed to re-arrange and organize my vanity again. Here’s how it looks like now: I needed the space so I decided to put my Muji Drawers upright. I just put a bunch of paper bags on the side for support. Believe me, it has ample support as I have tons of paper bags, LOL. MB and I made a quick trip to Muji Powerplant last Saturday because I was really itching to organize my stuff and room. I have so much stuff on the floor and it’s becoming hard to navigate my small room. So I got those plastic organizers (the one holding the lipsticks and the one with the scissors) together with a couple of drawers which I will show you later. At the back of the drawer rests my Etude House box housing my palettes. Then my earring organizer then another EH organizer that holds my random brushes then the necklace organizer that Kitten and I bought. Underneath the lipstick case is where I put my ipod and zen stuff. Then we ha...

Let’s Talk - Makeup Organization

Lately I’ve been pretty obsessed with acquiring different brands and kinds of makeup and skin care (getting old). They make me happy just looking at them. Does that sound kooky? Well, probably. Guys have their gadgets while girls have their makeup. and shoes. and bags. and clothes. My vanity is getting crowded and I needed to do something. The solution? I got this at Muji for Php975. I’m very happy with this as it keeps my makeup organized and keeps the clutter at bay. Let me show you around. The first drawer from the right is my Lip Drawer.  It contains my lip balms, lip glosses and my unopened lip products. The middle drawer is the Cheek and Eye Drawer and houses my mini eye shadow palettes, single eyeshadows, eyelash curler, and sharpener. On the top are my blushes. The last drawer is the Stock Drawer. The first compartment contains bronzers and a highlighter. The one on top contains all my stocks – unused, unopened makeup. I haven’t given up on my old lipstick orga...
