Sephora Floral Funk Palette

This is the last palette from our store and as usual, I got it for myself. Most Filipinas will shy away from this palette because one, it has colorful shades and two, the rest are for smokey eyes. Based on my experience, our customers only want neutrals, neutrals, neutrals. I’m not like that. I welcome all colors! Here are swatches: First Row Second Row Third Row I used MB’s arm to swatch the shadows. = ) I like this palette but the shadows don’t blend that well. They have a lot of fall out. I need to apply a really good primer so that the colors will show and blend well. They also don’t last very long so what I do is I build them up (or pile them on!). Anyway, the packaging is good. It’s leather and it has a good sized mirror inside. It’s a nice every day palette and will look nice in a purse or on a vanity.

The Urban Decay Feminine Palette

One of the perks of having your own beauty store is you get to try different beauty products at no cost. And being a beauty junkie, nothing goes to waste. This is the old version of the Urban Decay Feminine palette. I think the only difference with the new version is the case. What I love about palettes is the value for money that I get. With this palette, I got the 24/7 liner which I probably can’t live without. It’s my every day liner. I already finished my duo which came with the NAKED palette so I’m using this liner now. Here are swatches: Most of my clients prefer the Dangerous palette over this one. I think it’s because of the pastel colors. Filipinas like either neutral colors or dark colors for smokey eyes to wear at night functions. If you’ve been a long-time follower of this blog, you’d know that I love color. I don’t mind donning different colored eye shadows every day. I am just not a neutral girl. From left to right is Ecstacy, Darkhorse, Aquarius, Mid...

EOTD: Pride with a Dash of Lust

I dug these photos up in my archives. They are possibly from 5 months ago when I stopped blogging. Don’t be afraid of color! I made this EOTD using the Pride and Lust palettes of Wet n Wild. (L-R) Pride, Lust I love these palettes as they are affordable and they perform well. You usually can’t expect a drugstore makeup to be good but Wet n Wild eyeshadows are an exception. The colors look daunting at first but the trick lies within your fingers and your brush. Lightly brush against the colors several times then tap your brush for a lighter day look. For night, do heavier strokes and don’t forget to tap to avoid fallouts. These eyeshadows tend to have fallouts but nothing that my ELF fan brush can’t fix.  Just keep building the colors until you reach your desired effect. I have a lot of Wet n Wild eyeshadows and there are a few more that I want to buy. I’m just trying hard to stop myself because I still have a ton of makeup to last me for years!

NARS Maui and Palm Beach

This is another NARS product that I found while searching for the elusive NARS Hanamichi brush. I found this on the back drawer of one of my Muji organizers. It’s a blush and bronzer duo. This is a product I bought from a friend. It stinks of moth balls. Actually this one and a few more makeup that I got from her. I didn’t have the heart to give them back to her and get my money back. When I found this, the palette itself was very sticky. This is the first time that one of my NARS palettes became sticky. This palette was kept with another NARS palette that didn’t turn sticky. I don’t know if it is because of the moth ball exposure or what. I tried cleaning the palette with tissue then with wet wipes then with alcohol. The alcohol did the job but it also made the palette ugly so I decided to depot it and throw away the palette. Sob.. I don’t like throwing out palettes especially beautiful ones.  They still smell a bit like moth balls, no matter what I do. I tried ‘bathing’ them...

NARS Hanamichi Palette

It’s one of the most beautiful makeup palettes I’ve ever seen and so I naturally had to have it. My mom got this for me some time ago when it was launched in the country.   This came in a box. When you open the box you will see a pouch housing the palette and a special brush. For the life of me, I couldn’t find the brush. It’s in my makeup collection somewhere. I’m sure I’ll be able to find it when I’m not actually looking for it. The colors are beautiful but they’re not as pigmented as I was expecting them to be. I have to layer them carefully to avoid fall outs and to avoid one color erasing the other. I use the white as base and highlighter. I use the gold one for the lids, sometimes for the crease. Same with the red. The black one I use for the outer V. Here’s one look using the Hanamichi palette. I’m having a hard time making the colors show in the photos but I think this will give you a good idea. The colors are really light so if you are not used to we...

Haul-over Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I was finally able to stay in one place and do some backlog work. I am very busy, period. So, blogging is a welcome respite. Some of the other posts were scheduled ones and this Haul-over Wednesday post is well, live? Hahaha! This is a haul that I did some weeks ago. This is the first time that I’ve tried NYX eyeshadows. I think the only NYX products that I’ve tried are the Grinding Blush and the Mood Gloss . The palette on top is from the Runway Collection. It’s palette 04 which is Catwalk. It has 10 neutral shades (I said I’m swearing off neutrals). I bought it in spite of my limit on neutrals because I was intrigued. That’s all. Oh, and the colors are great to use on my number 1 client – mom. Pigmentation is so-so. I need to dab my brush several times to get the color and intensity that I want. But I was very surprised with the texture. The shadows are very smooth, almost cream-like. The colorful palette is from The Carribean Collection and ...

Lust Smokey Eye

I used the Wet n Wild Lust palette that’s why the title has the word “lust” in it. = ) I used all the shades on the left side plus a bit of shimmer on the bottom shadow on the right to top the look. This isn’t a “clean” smokey eye. I was just testing out this palette. Plus I wasn’t really in the mood to apply makeup as I think I did this at 11 pm. I was very impressed with the Wet n Wild palette. For 500 pesos, I get 6 very fine, very pigmented shades that can give me day or night looks. When I swatched it the first time at the SM counter, I was already impressed but I wasn’t expecting it to perform this good when I actually apply it on my lids. The colors are easy to build  and they blend well with each other. Fallout was minimal. And for something this affordable, I was surprised that it didn’t make my eyes itch. But then again, I only had this on for a few minutes. I’ll find out soon enough. Another thing that I like about this palette are the matte shadows. I’m tryin...

The Feminine Palette EOTD

I couldn’t resist the colors of the Urban Decay The Feminine Palette so I got one for myself. Here’s one of the EOTDs I wore during the SuperSale Bazaar: The colors are a bit washed out (because of the lighting) but if I remember correctly, the shades that I used are SWF (light pink) as base, Aquarius (sea green) for the crease and Ecstasy (purple) for the outer V. I also patted some Midnight Cowboy (gold-brown) all over the colors. I think I used one of the shades in the Naked palette for highlight. Oh, and I’m using the Anna Sui mascara here too. The Urban Decay Feminine Palette is available at Hyphen .
