From the Editor’s Desk: What Remains Beautiful

Dear Glow Girls, Somewhere along the way, my idea of beautiful changed.  DCC Armani said: “It’s hard trying to figure out your version of what a beauty standard is when you look around and your best friends, they have hair and you don’t.“ That got me thinking.  What really is beauty? What is beautiful? They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  But there are a lot of things that a big group of people agree on that are beautiful. So, is that what beautiful is? What the majority agrees on?  But there are also things, standards of beauty from different places in the world that are different from what most people deem beautiful.  Does that mean their idea of beauty is wrong? This issue has made me do a deep dive into my own standards of beauty.  Charlotte Mason believed that c hildren should be surrounded by what is whole, beautiful, and worthy. She said we shouldn’t keep chipped mugs or plates, torn books, broken toys at home. Basically anything br...

I Don’t Buy Things the Way I Used To

My favorite body scrubs I have been buying in bulk as far as I can remember.  Before, it was about need. Convenience. Sometimes even impulse. Now… it’s quieter than that. I look for beauty first. Not loud beauty. Not trendy beauty. The kind that sits well in my space. The kind that doesn’t tire me. Then quality. Something that lasts. Something that feels right in the hand, on the skin, in the everyday rhythm of use. And most importantly… I listen. Does my skin accept it? Does my body agree with it? Does my system feel at ease with it? Because I’ve learned this the hard way— not everything that works for others will work for me. And when I find something that does… I don’t hesitate. I keep it. I return to it. And when the moment is right, I stock up quietly. Not out of fear. But out of certainty. —- With elegance and quiet fire, Lady E Founder, Glow by Lady E  An editorial space for stories, art, and intentional living

From the Atelier: Lemon Grove

It started with lemons. Not the kind you think about when you’re baking or cooking… but the kind that sit quietly on a branch, catching light. I painted them one afternoon without a plan. Just yellow, green, and a feeling I couldn’t quite name yet. Something soft. Something warm. Something… lived-in. Later, I found myself reaching for that same painting again. Not to change it. Just to keep it close . So I turned it into something I could use. Little notes for the kitchen. A place to write ingredients. A place to remember. Nothing complicated. Just something gentle… to sit beside the everyday. If you feel called to keep one, they’re quietly available through Stars & Roses. —- With elegance and quiet fire, Lady E Founder, Glow by Lady E  An editorial space for stories, art, and intentional living

Used to the Last Drop

Decades ago, before I even started blogging, it was natural for me to finish a product that I bought.  It was common sense.  Before Project Pan or Empties was a thing, I’ve been quietly finishing products.  A quick tour in my archives will reveal plenty of products that I’ve used and loved through the years.  There’s something very satisfying about finishing a product down to the last drop.  Like some sort of accomplishment.  I feel like I got my money’s worth.  I didn’t love the products above.  They were okay.  They served their function. But they will never enter my space again.  This last one isn’t the exact product I used up.  I used up the blue variant, but forgot to take a photo before throwing it in the recyclables bin.  I couldn’t find one in my archives, too.  So this will have to do.  This was more used to the last pad than drop.  These are Mumuso nail polish remover wipes.  I love them....

What I’m Keeping Close

Not everything stays. Some things pass through you… used, loved, forgotten. But every now and then— something lingers. Not because it’s loud. Not because it’s trending. But because it made your days softer. Easier. More you . These are the things I’ve been keeping close. 01. My Inabel Skirt This piece isn’t just something I wear. It grounds me. There’s something about the texture, the weight, the story behind it… it reminds me where I come from. And somehow, every time I reach for it, I feel a little more put together without trying too hard. 02. Juttis (My Unexpected Foot Saver) This pair is special.  Handmade. Flew all the way from India.  Bought from the company owner himself. I was already loving it. But when my feet needed gentleness, I fell in love even more. Soft. Forgiving. Still beautiful. Proof that comfort doesn’t have to mean giving anything up. 03. Sewame Hand Cream This one lives quietly on my table. A small squeeze… and suddenly, everything fe...
