Teach or Treat?

What I like about Clinique is that they let you experience the product first without pressuring you to purchase. When I was new to Clinique, I was given a skin consultation, typing a makeover and was even given basic makeup lessons. I never felt pressured to purchase. I was also given samples to try at home. For those who are not familiar with the brand, they give generous samples, travel size ones and not products in sachets that you can only use once. These samples can be used for a week, allowing you to really experience the effects of the products. It didn't take a week for me though. I was sold what with the excellent customer service and the impressive array of products.  That was many years ago. Today, Clinique has gone a step further by launching the Teach or Treat You service. You can either get a sample or you can experience the product at the counter and be given a demo. The beauty consultants will also give you a ton of useful information on how to use ...

The Doctor is In Clinique Event at Shangri-La Mall

Last Saturday, cousin C and I went to Shangri-La Mall to attend the Doctor is In event at the Clinique counter. Check out these photos. Macarons from Bizu were served.  These are the limited edition sets. Get them while they are still around. The set on the left are 5 small bottles of perfumes. The one on the right are 7 lipsticks designed for each day of the week.  I really like this lippy set. There's cousin C waiting for the doctor.  You can get this bag free for every Php4,500 purchase.  Busy, busy, busy. Guest doctor for the event was Dr. Gina Banate, MD, DPDS who is a licensed dermatologist and member of the Philippine Dermatological Society. Guests got to have a personal consultation with the doctor. I asked her a few questions and I will be sharing the things that I've learned from her in my next post so watch out for that.

My Must-Have Products for Women in their 30’s

I’m 31 and as I get older, my product collection evolves. I’m lucky that I learned to take care of my skin at an early age. The only thing that wrecked my skin was my bout with steroids but I’m slowly recovering from it. I’d like to share with you my must-have products. Moisturizer First is skin care. If you don’t have a concrete skin care regime yet, you better start now. Anti-aging products are popular during this age but I think I’m allergic to them so I choose my products carefully. A good moisturizer is a must-have and.. Eye Cream Stress can take a toll on our features, especially our eye area and you need a good product to combat that. Eye Liners Women in their 30’s can get away with bold cat eyes so you better have the tools to make them. You can choose liquid, gel or the good old reliable pencil. Cheek Tint You need some color in your cheeks and a good cheek tint can give you a healthy flush. It’s also good if you have dry skin. Beauty Oil I didn’t ...

My Favorite Clinique Products

I have a ton of Clinique products, mostly skin care. I have to admit that I have not yet tried all of them but among the few that I have, these are my favorites. I may have changed my facial wash but my toner and moisturizer remain the same. I super love this combination and I doubt that I will be changing them any time soon. Next is the eye cream. This is different from the one I used before but it’s still great. I would like to try Benefit’s eye cream though just to compare them. Finally, this lipstick in RSVPink. I have different makeup from Clinique but I’m not impressed with the others. As you can see, I’m almost done with this tube. Here’s a swatch: It’s a perfect everyday shade and I used this before when I was still on the road every single day. I won’t be repurchasing this shade as I still have a ton of lipsticks that need to be used up.

What’s the least amount of makeup you can wear when going out?

I love makeup and I spend some time getting all dolled up before going out. The only times that I don’t wear any trace of makeup is when I am being rushed to the hospital. Other than that, you will always find me with a touch of makeup on my face. Here’s the least I can get away with: I have pimple marks on my face so I need to apply foundation or at least a BB cream. This is from Etude House and it’s a great product. I made a review of this product if you are interested. Before applying foundation or BB cream, I always apply a primer. I don’t feel comfortable without a primer. But on days when I need to get out the door fast, I just use the BB cream. I also use the Clinique Chubby Stick as my lips are super dry. I don’t need to apply lip balm anymore with this product. When I just have to run an errand or pick up my husband from work, I can get away with just the lip balm. If I still have a few minutes left, I would groom my brows: This is my Bobbi Brown palette and those...

Clinique Repairwear Intensive Eye Cream

I got this as a GWP. I only use Clinique Eye Creams because it’s the only brand that caters to my sensitive skin. I finished one jar and so my favorite Clinique Consultant at Rustan’s gave me this to try. I only use this when I go out. I don’t want to put too much product on my face when I’m just at home because I tend to break out plus my eyes are too sensitive and they become itchy if I put products every single day. Although I don’t use this daily, I can truly say that it works. I don’t have puffiness and dark circles on my eye area. If I lack sleep, it does not show when I use this. I was scared to use this at first because Baby said that this is a stronger product than the one I’m used to. I’m glad that it’s not too harsh on my skin. I think a full sized jar costs around Php2,000+ because that’s the price of my regular eye cream. I’d like to try Benefit’s eye cream next time. Have you tried that yet? If you’ve blogged about it, please leave a link in the comments s...

Clinique Turnaround Concentrate

This is one moisturizer that I really, really love. I am very careful with my super sensitive face and I’m glad that this worked out for me. This is a travel sized tube that I recently finished. I used it for quite some time. I don’t use this everyday, only on days when I’m at home. It slowly sloughs off the outer layer of your skin to reveal nicer, healthier skin. You won’t see your face peeling. It’s very gentle. You only need a small amount for the entire face and neck. No harsh smells and no harsh reactions. I don’t know how much a full sized tube costs. I won’t be buying for a while because I have tons of travel sized tubes. It’s probably around Php1,000+. I think I already made a review of this product so if you want to read that just type in the name in my search box.

Carmi at Clinique

This is a late post. So sorry, as you know I’m at a bazaar again. Well, actually, I am in the bazaar as I write this. LOL. Last Saturday, I was able to meet Carmi who won a Clinique Gift from my Thanksgiving Giveaway. There were 3 who won but it was only Carmi who was able to claim her prize personally. Because of that, she was treated to a consultation and makeover by Clinique Beauty Expert Dindin. Pretty Carmi Here she is being  educated by Dindin on the skin care regimen she should use. I wasn’t feeling too swell that day. I was exhausted from driving all morning and to top that, my period came early so Baby decided to prettify me to look presentable to Carmi. Here’s what she did: I’ll make a separate post for the close up look. Here’s everybody: Hey Carmi, I hope you had fun that day. So sorry I wasn’t my usual bubbly self (during Clinique events). Now you know why. And I hope you and your boyfriend learned a lot! Enjoy your prize and thanks for joining! Thank y...

Clinique Day Today!

Hello ladies! Today, Friday, April 29, Clinique Rustan's Makati will have a FREE Consultation, Skin Typing and Color Open House! Everybody can try out Clinique products to their hearts' content! Girls (and guys) who will undergo a skin consultation will receive gifts from Clinique. I will be there to cover the event so if you see me, give me a shoutout, okay? See you!

Is your foundation perfectly real?

Mine is. I use this: Clinique has one of the best foundations in the makeup world. I would say out front that this is one expensive foundation but it is all worth it. The foundation is encased in a sleek silver compact. You press the silver buttons on both sides and the silver cover lifts slowly, revealing your foundation: I have since lost that sponge (well, actually, it fell on a public bathroom floor and so I chucked it). I used Victoria Vogue sponges as replacements but I find that my Sigma There’s Something About Marilyn Kabuki Brush (to blog about it soon)  is a better replacement. This shade is lighter than my skin color because I’m acidic. It took a while for Beauty Expert Baby and I to figure out the best shade for me. The reason why I tried this foundation is because I noticed that the Maybelline Angelfit Foundation was making me look ashy. The Clinique Beauty Experts noticed that too. This foundation looks a bit white when I apply it but after a few minut...

Bonding with Mum

Mom did some last minute shopping today for our trip. We both had business to do in the morning so we just met up for lunch. We had lunch at Seafood Island then started our shopping. Our family has been through a lot in the past 8 years and so I was very happy that mom was able to treat herself today. First stop was Promod where we bought cardis: Then we went to All Flip Flops to buy her first pair of Havaianas: We wanted the blue one (this is actually purple) but they ran out of sizes so we settled for this. I really hate the Havaianas here as they always run out of sizes. MB and I always have a hard time buying because most of the time they don’t have our sizes. We also went to M&S to get some underwear and a thermal top for me. We got this freebie bag: It’s actually a nice tote bag as the material is quite sturdy and the bag is big, perfect for shopping unlike the bags from other establishments that are too tiny. Masabi lang na may free ka… Off we went to Clinique to...
