Always Within Reach

I love samples.  With all my sensitivities, they allow me to try a new product without committing to a sale that might not be beneficial to me in the long run.  I particularly liked the Le Baume sample Dior Beauty Ambassador EJ gave me. (I showed that in Used to the Last Drop in this issue.) And of course, where else would I try it on first than 👉🏼  My hands. Yes, they’re still dry. Sometimes very dry.  I tried the sample one afternoon while I was working on Issue 02: Beautiful Things.  How do I love thee? Let me count the ways: First, no strong smell.  I liked that.  Second, the product is absorbed by my hands fairly easily.  I don’t have to spend 5 minutes rubbing my hands for the product to be absorbed.  Time-saver. ✅ Comes in a cute, compact case? Yes, please! (Although I was told this was a limited edition case.) I can wear it to sleep.  And that’s a big deal for me because most of my day products don’t work on me at night....

What I’m Keeping Close - Soft Focus

Most of you know my skin situation from those years of steroids, nsaids, anti-depressants, and antihistamines for misdiagnosed autoimmune diseases. So, for many years, I’ve been avoiding matte makeup.  My skin is already very dry, rashy, and flaky and matte makeup just makes it look even drier.  I’ve tried a few foundations and cushions, but they only end up cracked after a few hours.  And then my Beauty Ambassador EJ suggested the Dior Forever Nude Matte Filter.  I tried it and yes, I’m committed.  Not a crush.  Full-on long-term commitment with this one.  It does make my skin look matte but for some reason, it doesn’t look dry.  And the most important thing for me is my foundation doesn’t crack anymore!  That is already enough reason to be in a commitment with this product. But it also smells nice and looks pretty! And I only need a small amount, so this compact will last a long time.  I use a big brush to apply the product on m...

Not Just a Pretty Blade: The Hello Kitty Razors I Didn't Know I Needed

When I bought these pink Hello Kitty eyebrow razors from Miniso in Baguio, I honestly just thought they were cute. I didn’t expect much more—maybe just something to display or a backup tool to keep in my vanity kit. But friends, these are more than just adorable. The larger blade is exactly what you’d expect from a good brow razor: it’s not too sharp that you’d cut yourself on first swipe, but sharp enough to cleanly trim and shape your brows with control. Perfect for general shaping and those fine baby hairs around the arch. But the real star of this set? The small razor. I didn’t even know I needed something like it until I used it. It's become my secret weapon for cleaning up those tiny, hard-to-reach stray hairs—especially the ones sitting right above the lid area. The small blade makes it easy to get precise, smooth shaping without the stress of nicking or over-trimming. It’s gentler than it looks, which makes it ideal even for someone new to dermaplaning or brow shaping. And ...
