The Skincare Duo That Feels Like Home — Even in a Hotel Bathroom

There’s something sacred about your bathroom.

It’s where you unwind, remove the day, and care for the parts of you no one else sees.

But when you travel — whether for work, a conference, or to visit family — you're suddenly sharing someone else's space. And even if the hotel is luxurious, there's nothing like your own tiny rituals that make you feel whole again.

Are you one of those ladies who need to frequently travel for work? So, you know how hotel bathrooms can be hit or miss, right?  Whether you’re staying somewhere swanky or just okay, nothing beats the feeling of your own bathroom.

My Favorite Skincare Duo

We don't travel as often as we used to but whenever we do, I always bring this little duo with me — The Face Shop Avocado Body Wash and Lotion. These are the travel sizes (50ml!), but they also come in full sizes if you fall in love.

The Deets

The scent? Fruity floral, gentle, not overpowering. Is the lotion effective for my super dry skin? A little, if I apply generously and use it daily. But my son used it on his arms where he has a lot of eczema rashes and they healed. He just applied it once a day.

Still, when I use them, I feel like I’m home again, even if I’m up in the mountains for work.

Glow Girls who are always on the move — trust me. It may not be these products, but bring a little piece of your bathroom with you so you can relax in the shower or bath after a long day's work.  Because you deserve to feel pampered wherever you are.

✨ Travel Tip:

I keep mine in a Hello Kitty ziplock in case it spills. Plus, this is usually one of the last things I pack before going home and sometimes I just grab it from the the shower without wiping it if I'm in a hurry, so the ziplock keeps the other things in my kit from getting wet.

Should you get it?

The Avocado line is super elusive! So, if you see them, grab as many as you can! That's what I did in December. I got the gift packs..for myself!

More Travel Hacks

To take advantage of the vacation feels even though I'm working, I make sure to bring some beauty masks. If you have a fridge in your hotel room, pop your masks inside when you arrive, so that when you go home tired and stressed one day, you can take one from the fridge, apply on your face, relax in bed, listen to music or simply just close your eyes, meditate or pray. I tell you, those 15 to 20 minutes of just forgetting about the world are bliss.

If you’re in SG, Indonesia, or Korea — you know the shelves are packed with amazing options. Let your skin pick what it needs. Hydrating? Calming? Brightening? Pick one. Pop it on. Lie back. Let the glow return.

My Current Favorite (Great Buy, Especially for Glow Mommas)

These P99 ($1.50) plastic containers from Miniso are my current obsession! Aside from the obvious purpose of housing food, these are perfect for travel, too! They are sturdy. The lids lock in place and don't come off easily. However, these are not spill-proof so don't put liquids in it!

  • Road trip snacks. You don't need to bring big bags of chips, snacks, chocolates, or granola anymore. Just fill one container and slip into your bag. When the kids start asking for snacks, just hand them one. One container for each kid.
  • Blood sugar rescues. I always have some Mentos and/or chocolates in my bag as my blood sugar drops fast when I'm out and about. The problem is, the chocolates get smushed in my bag. This is a great way to protect my chocolates. I bring a few, especially if my husband is with us. I give some to him before he drives.

  • Keeps high-end makeup safe. You don't want your Chanel or Dior lipsticks getting cracks, do you? Place them in this container to protect them. To prevent them from moving around, put scrunchies or a pair of thin socks around the lipsticks.
  • Corral those loose bits. Do you use hairpins, clips, tiny clamps, hair ties, etc? Then put them all in this container. It will be easier to fix your hair in the morning. Just open the container and voila! Take your pins easily. This is a much easier (and safer) option than putting them in a pouch and emptying your pouch on the counter to get your pins in a rush.
  • Makeup tools. Place makeup sponges, cotton buds, and cotton pads in this container. Bonus tip: Place dirty sponges that you will wash at home in one container.
  • First aid kit. Vitamins, supplements, medicines, band-aids, gauze, antibacterial ointment, Betadine, etc. Put them all here so if you or someone you know needs some first aid, you can easily whip this out of your bag.
  • Emergency jewelry kit. Got last-minute brunch plans or an impromptu date night after errands?  Keep a few dainty gold pieces — like hoop earrings, a pendant, or stackable rings — in a soft cloth pouch, then place the pouch inside the container. No tangled necklaces or scratched pieces! It’s my easiest glow-up trick.
  • Mini sewing kit. Are you attending a wedding or a party? It's always a good idea to bring a few things to fix a dress in case an accident happens. A tiny roll of double-sided tape, a needle, black/white/beige thread wrapped around a card, and a couple of safety pins. Pop them in one of the containers. If the bride's dress needs some repairs, take out your kit to the rescue. I'm sure you'd be the VIP that day.
  • Miniature perfume station. I store my perfume samples and travel atomizers here so they don’t leak into my purse or makeup pouch. These also stay upright in the container! And bonus: you can switch scents easily depending on your mood.
  • Essential oils and inhalers. I like traveling with essential oils and these are perfect to store them. Here's a nice blend to have if you're stressed or hormonal.

These ₱99 containers may look basic, but they’ve helped me feel more organized, elegant, and in control — even on chaotic days. I’m no longer digging through my bag for missing items or repacking last-minute. Everything has its place, and that calm, put-together glow is exactly what I want to carry with me wherever I go.✨

Because no matter where you are, your glow should travel with you. ✨

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
