Here are some of my quick makeup tricks that you may find useful when you’re sick.
First of all,do not skip the moisturizer. You need this to hydrate your skin. To simplify your routine, choose a multipurpose product like this Stila One Step that moisturizes, corrects and primes your skin. The less you do in front of the mirror, the better you will feel. You can also use a tinted moisturizer that doubles as a foundation. I don’t have tinted moisturizers so I use my BB creams.
For the eyes, choose one shade and color your lids. Never mind giving your eyes some depth and contour. What you need is color to hide those sick eyes. Don’t forget to use a primer so that everything stays put the whole day. You’d be too tired to retouch anyway. Oh, if you have dark circles, don’t forget to apply concealer and blend, blend, blend.
You can skip the eyeliner but don’t skip curling your lashes. It will instantly brighten up your eyes. You can skip the mascara but I prefer to apply some. Be sure it’s waterproof though as you might have watery eyes from colds.
If you don’t want to apply blush, use a bronzer. It will give your face some much needed color or you can give your cheeks a pink flush. This is my Bobbi Brown bronzer and NARS Multiple in Angelika.
Finally, your lips. Don’t forget to use a lip balm to smoothen and moisturize your lips. If you are just using bronzer, go for a bold lip color such as MAC Russian Red. If you want to use blush, stick to a more toned down color. If all else fails, you can always just apply a red lipstick and you will look great.
This is my routine when I’m really not feeling well but most of the time I stick to my regular routine and just do a few tweaks. Yesterday, I did a full face and my doctor’s secretary commented that I don’t look like I’m bored from getting all cooped up in the house. She said I don’t look like I’ve been sick. Well, my mom also insisted that I do my regular routine as we’ve gone to the doctor twice already with me looking pale and sickly. Going out with no makeup is unacceptable with my mom and grandma so I guess I got it from them.
Love your tips. They're very useful and practical. :D
