Ritual Over Routine: Why I Choose Flow in My Days

There was a time when my life revolved around long to-do lists, endless rushing, and the constant thought: “I still have so much to do.” As a matter of fact, I say it out loud several times a day! It felt like I was always racing against time, yet never really arriving anywhere. And the constant repetition that I still have so much to do adds pressure and stress.

After a bout of colds,  I've decided to choose differently. I’ve learned that rituals—not routines—bring me back to myself. They slow me down, center me, and remind me that life isn’t about running out of time but about creating space for the things that matter. Instead of long lists, I focus on three to five meaningful tasks each day. The rest of my energy is reserved for my rituals, which have become my quiet luxuries.

Nourishing Morning Ritual Energy

Omurice, a favorite in our family

My mornings begin with a hearty breakfast—sometimes simple, sometimes grand but always filling, and comforting. I used to dread preparing breakfast because I ran out of ideas. I kept rotating the same dishes. It's hard to be creative in the kitchen first thing in the morning. Now, I see it as my first fuel, a mindful way to set the tone for the day, so I make an effort.

Self-Care Rituals That Feel Like a Spa

After breakfast, I step into a shower that feels more like a spa ritual than a rushed necessity. My Mumuso Olive Bath Oil transforms the water into a silky cocoon. The amazing thing about this bath oil is that it heats up when I put it on my bath lily. You all know I'm sensitive to heat, but this is a very relaxing kind of heat. It smells really good too.

Mumuso Green Tea Soothing & Moisturizing Body Lotion

After my long shower, I apply my green tea lotion to seal in hydration. This is a surprise product. I got this on BOGO! I didn't have high hopes for it. I bought it because it's green tea and I thought that I'd use it on days when I'm at home. But the results suprised me! The lotion is the right texture. It's not thick, but also not very watery. I love the subtle green tea scent that blends nicely with whatever soap I use that day. It's not sticky at all. My skin absorbs it quite fast. I have very dry skin and with continued use, I can see that my skin is improving.

It’s a small but luxurious act that makes me feel cared for in the midst of busy days.

Mindful Afternoon Rituals for Joy

In between work and chores, I carve out a moment for a small treat for my son and I. Some days I make my homemade chocolate drink—rich, frothy, and topped with a touch of cream and chocolate syrup. I'm not allowed to eat a Iot of sweets nowadays because I'm healing an infection. Chocolate is my go-to sweet, so this a reminder that joy doesn’t need to be grand—it just needs to be savored.

Evening Ritual to Soothe and Reset

Evenings are when I cool down—not just mentally but physically. I use an ice ball for the face, rolling it gently over my skin to calm inflammation and soothe any tension from the day. It’s such a simple ritual, yet it feels like a reset button, leaving me refreshed and ready for rest.

Half an ice ball, proof that I always use it!

I no longer live by the pressure of routines. Instead, I flow with rituals that honor me. These aren’t just habits, they're my soft luxe lifestyle in practice reminding me everyday: I choose myself today.

Glow Girl, how are you choosing yourself today?
