Bonding with Mum

Mom did some last minute shopping today for our trip. We both had business to do in the morning so we just met up for lunch. We had lunch at Seafood Island then started our shopping. Our family has been through a lot in the past 8 years and so I was very happy that mom was able to treat herself today.

First stop was Promod where we bought cardis:

Then we went to All Flip Flops to buy her first pair of Havaianas:

We wanted the blue one (this is actually purple) but they ran out of sizes so we settled for this. I really hate the Havaianas here as they always run out of sizes. MB and I always have a hard time buying because most of the time they don’t have our sizes.

We also went to M&S to get some underwear and a thermal top for me. We got this freebie bag:

It’s actually a nice tote bag as the material is quite sturdy and the bag is big, perfect for shopping unlike the bags from other establishments that are too tiny. Masabi lang na may free ka…

Off we went to Clinique to buy her foundation. Mum saw  Clinique’s Bonus Time so she decided to get a moisturizer as well. Aside from the Bonus, we were also given other freebies:

Thank you Clinique!

We got the Etude House Concealer and in2it brow kit at SM. This was a freebie at SM too:

She also got this toiletries organizer from Clinique:

I didn’t realize that mum still needed a bunch of clothes for our trip until she told me. In all those 8 years, mum sacrificed a lot so she was content with a few things for herself. Today I resolved to change that. At SM, we got these:

The selection of clothes at SM for women of my mum’s age are blah. They are either for very young or very old (and very fat) women. Aside from that, some of the SA’s are bitchy. I was still looking at this red dress while mum was on her way to the fitting room. I stopped her and told her to look at the dress I’m holding. She didn’t care for it so I went back to the rack. I haven’t even finished looking at it when the SA grabbed it from my hand. So, I was like, okay… Then I got another blouse and she was standing guard over the clothes and gave me that look saying don’t touch my clothes if you’re not going to buy. So I dumped the blouse back to the rack and waited for my mom to finish. She asked me if I saw anything else and told her, “I don’t want to shop here anymore. Let’s go some place where people appreciate our business.”

We went downstairs to get her some shoes:

After that, I was already tired so I asked for a break. We ate at Dulcinea then continued our shopping. We wanted to buy a few things from M&S GB but they were out of stock. We searched at G4 but they were also out of stock. We saw some pretty clothes for her but I decided to go to Rustan’s first. Fortunately, I saw the huge Debenhams sign and told her that we must go there. It was a good decision indeed:

I realized that we only got one blue top for her and the rest are white. But it’s okay as these were the prettiest of the lot. Mum loved this store so much that she got us both loyalty cards.

That was our last stop for the day. I think she’s 90% complete with her “to pack” list. Although I didn’t buy a lot, I was very happy that mum was able to treat herself today. She deserves it.

  1. Oh wow! When I shop with my mom, she shops for me! I think it's quite nice to reverse that sometimes. :)

I agree how some sales people in SM are very bratty. But some of them are very over-eager that it makes buyers feel awkward sometimes. LOL

I got the package by the way! :D:D:D:D I'll blog about it soon. Thank you!!!! :D

  2. I agree some SA's in SM Stores can be very "female doggy". Here in my place, some of them are also like that.Especially when you're scanning at expensive blouses and makeup, they point their eyes like snipers on you.

Anyway, I'm getting the package later from lbc. :)
    THANK YOU SO MUCH! :))

    I'm so excited! :))))))

  3. Hi Michelle! That is why I like shopping at Rustan's and the SSI Group of Stores better as the staff are trained well. You're welcome!

@MissK: It's really annoying when they give you that look like you can't afford their merchandise.

  6. From your post I can see the smile on Mom's face and yours as well. And I agree with you that SM Staff are not trained enough. They won't assist you till you show them how thick your purse are. I had a bag-full of sad :( experiences.

Soft Luxe Staycations: Binondo Series - The Great Buddha, Curated Purchases from Eng Bee Tin, and Last Thoughts About Ramada

After buying a lot of stuff on the first floor, we headed upstairs to eat a light lunch. Mom was getting hungry. My son and I just ate, but we said that we will accompany her and will just order something light.

All About Eyes

Lately I’m finding myself obsessed with skin care products, prevention in particular. I'm not getting younger and nobody likes lines and wrinkles, right? I should have done this in my early twenties but those were hard times and we didn’t have enough to support our daily lives, let alone vanity splurges. So now, I’m on hyper mode. I did not place any expectations on this product. I’ve had it with products claiming they can do this and that. I just tried the product thinking that if it works then great, if not then I’ll just find a new one. I wasn’t expecting a dramatic change but 2 weeks into using this product, I noticed that my under eye area has become lighter. The lines are also not as deep as they were before I used this product. I stopped using the Garnier eye products because I’m allergic to them so that means I’m not using any whitening products for that area. I am truly impressed with this product. I didn’t take a before and after photo as I wasn’t expecting this at ...

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...
