Maybelline ColorSensational and Revlon Just Bitten - The Battle of the Lip Stains

I’m not a huge fan of stains (lip, cheek and of course clothes, lol) but these two made me see the light. It made me realize how useful and practical it is to use a lip stain on very busy days.

I will start with the Revlon Just Bitten:

Revlon Just Bitten in Twilight, by bitsandtreats

I bought this in January and I can say that I haven’t used it that much, maybe less than 10 times. Why? It stings my lips whenever I use it. The lip balm on the other end doesn’t help. Even if I put a lot of lip balm (Revlon or Maybelline) it just stings.

The other thing that I hate about this is the lip balm on the other end. We all know that it’s bound to break. Mine did. Although I knew that it was inevitable, I couldn’t help getting pissed off especially since it happened when I was at a restroom inside the mall, meaning I wouldn’t be able to retouch for the rest of the day as I didn’t have a spare lip balm with me.

The other turn off is the price. I think I bought this for Php700+.

One thing I like about this though is how long the color lasts. I can truly say that I only need a few touch ups throughout the day. You can also go really red by layering the stain on. I like wearing mine like this:

If it’s your first time using this particular lip stain, start with light strokes and just build up the color from there. Remember, it’s easy to add but it’s hard to remove. You also have to be quick with applying as the stain dries up pretty fast. It also dries up my lips so I’d have to re-apply lip balm throughout the day.

Let’s go to the other side, the Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Stain. This is Cherry Pop:

Maybelline ColorSensational and Revlon Just Bitten

Now, most of you may know that this is available at my online store Hyphen. I want you to know that this review is honest. I know my ethical duties as a blogger and as a writer. I will only write what I feel is my honest opinion.

The main reason why I decided to carry this product on my online store is because Revlon Just Bitten was a disappointment. Being a Maybelline fan for so long, I was hoping that this product would be better. And yes, it did not disappoint. It has its merits but it also has its faults.

First off, the color payoff is okay although if you want that exact shade on the packaging, you’d have to layer on a lot. It doesn’t last as much as Just Bitten but that’s fine with me as this does not sting my lips. It actually works well with my HG lip balm. Probably because they’re both Maybelline.

I use this whenever I join bazaars as I don’t have the time to retouch or run to the bathroom as much as I want to. I guess my constant opening and closing has made the pen a bit dry. It’s either that or the product is running out. Like Just Bitten, this also makes my lips a bit dry but not as dry as with Revlon.

I like using this because I don’t need a mirror unlike Just Bitten because as I’ve said, you need to layer it on to get the exact shade on the cap. I’m just too scared that I might end up with very red lips with Revlon that’s why I always use a mirror whenever I apply this.

Price, of course, the Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Stain is only Php550. This is not available in drugstores and local beauty shops but you can get it at Hyphen. (Shameless plugging here).

Now the big question, will I buy Just Bitten again? Absolutely not. I don’t like the stinging effect. I think that’s the reason why your lips should look just bitten, unfortunately, my lips still look the same. Will I use Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Stain again? Nope. Why? I’m just really not a fan of lip stains. I will stick to my “normal” lippies, thank you very much. But if you’re a fan of lip stains, I highly recommend either one.

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
