How I Define “Worth It” in My Soft Luxe Life

There was a time in my life when "worth it" meant cheapest, fastest, or most practical. I would chase value the way most moms and homemakers do — with a mental checklist: Did it save me time? Did it save me money? Did it help me survive the day?

But the older I got — the more roles I juggled and the more I healed — I began to realize:

Survival is not the benchmark anymore.

Thriving is.

And that’s when I started rewriting what “worth it” means to me.

💖 “Worth It” Is Anything That Supports My Nervous System

I’m ADHD. I’m also a mom, a businesswoman, a crafter, and someone who deeply feels everything. When I’m overstimulated or stretched too thin, I snap — not because I’m ungrateful, but because my system is overloaded.

So now, if something brings me calm — a soft light, a plush robe, a bottle of water I actually like drinking, a tool that saves me 5 steps in the kitchen — I no longer ask, “Do I really need this?”

Buying all these makeup brushes? Let's see. Saves me time and energy from constantly having to wash eye makeup brushes throughout the week, and which said saved resources allow me to be more productive in my week, then yes. Worth it!

I ask, “Does this support the version of me that I’m becoming?”

If the answer is yes, it’s worth it.

🌸 “Worth It” Feels Soft, Not Just Smart

I used to think “smart spending” meant denying yourself until the next sale. Or choosing the more “mature” option because it’s what responsible women do. But now I believe that wisdom can be soft.

A glittery notebook that makes me excited to write my morning thoughts?

That’s smart.

Pretty tea towels and  tableware that make me want to cook for my family again after a burnout week?

Also smart.

A shopping spree that:
  1. Gave me a much-needed dopamine boost after a very hectic week
  2. which in turn made me happy, allowing my body to relax and heal that injured finger...
  3. ...overnight.
  4. Gave me content for days
  5. Made my godson happy because I got him a OnePiece noteboook while shopping for myself
So, yes. This was definitely worth it.

Because joy multiplies.

Softness overflows.

And when I feel good in my space, I create better. I give better. I become better.

🧴 “Worth It” Sometimes Looks Like a Finished Bottle

Over the years, my readers have commented that I have a lot of beauty products — and I do. But what they don’t always see is that I use them. I finish them.

A quick search in my blog about "hitting pan" or "empties" will reveal that I really use the products I buy, unless it's a really bad product.

I squeeze the last drop, pump the final pump, and wipe the container clean.

Mumuso Greet Tea Soothing Body Lotion that I got on BOGO, but will buy again because it was so gentle but effective on my skin.

These aren't random purchases.

They're tools in my daily rhythm — products I reach for when I need to ground myself, feel refreshed, or simply return to me.

In fact, the things I finish are the ones I trust the most.

The hydrating foundation that never broke me out.

The surprise lotion that never triggered my sensitivities.

I need to rotate my products often because of my skin sensitivities — so when I do finish something, that means it was truly gentle, consistent, and worth it.

Sometimes, you don’t realize how much a product matters to you until you reach the bottom.

It’s a quiet kind of love. One that’s proven over time.

🌼 “Worth It” Looks Different in a Soft Luxe Life

To outsiders, soft luxe might look indulgent. Extra. Dramatic, even.

But to me, it’s how I honor my feminine rhythm.

It’s how I build a life that feels as good as it looks.

It's how I've been healing myself - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Soft luxe doesn’t always mean expensive. Sometimes it’s free — a slow morning. A warm blanket. A mango smoothie on a busy day. A wooden spoon I keep reaching for because it feels right. A foot soak in my 20-year old foot spa machine with ingredients from the fridge...

It’s not about luxury for the sake of appearances.

It’s about surrounding myself with things that remind me I’m safe, loved, and worthy — even on the hard days.

✨ So, What’s “Worth It” to You?

Take a moment today. Not to budget or analyze or justify.

But to feel.

What makes you breathe a little easier?

What makes your shoulders drop, your heart soften, your soul whisper, “This is good”?

That’s your soft luxe.

That’s your worth it.

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
