Soft Luxe Staycations: Binondo Series - A Review of Ramada by Wyndham Manila Central and My Curated Purchases
If you're just tuning in, we made an impromptu staycation at Ramada by Wyndham Manila Central, so that we can shop the nearby Divisoria and Lucky Chinatown Mall with ease. Here are my thoughts about this hotel.
Mini pantry
I was so happy when I saw the mini fridge! Having a fridge in my room is a big deal for me as I like my water ice cold!
The closet. I should have checked the drawers as the hair dryer was there! The closet didn't have a weird or moldy smell. Yay! It also had an ample amount of hangers. Plus they provided a robe and slippers.
Of course my son had to bring his Minions!
This is the view from our room. That's the church you've been seeing in my other posts.
My review
The front desk staff on duty when we got there was very nice and accommodating. I only asked if we could leave our luggage and things because we arrived early, but he said I could pre-register so that I'd only have to get the keys when I got back and they can take us to our room immediately.
When we got back, true to their word, they gave me our room key card and said that they will ask the porter to take our things to our room. Our porter, Edward (I think was his name. I have their names mixed up in my head! 🤣), was really fast and delivered our things a few minutes after we settled in. He was nice, too.
I requested for extra pillows as I need to sleep with my head elevated. There were 2 pillows on my side of the bed (4 in all), but they were too soft and were not going to be enough for my needs. In a few minutes, the pillows arrived. "Wow, this hotel was really fast", I thought.
We arrived around 3:30 pm. At 5 pm, I noticed that the aircon wasn't getting any cooler, so I called the front desk again. I was asking if the air conditioning was centralized as I couldn't find the control panel. (It was on the wall behind me. 🤦♀️ I was looking for it in the wrong places!). He said that he will do something about it. After a few minutes, our doorbell rang, and lo and behold, Engineering was there, bearing a ladder!
I explained the matter to him and he said that he will turn off the aircon and will check the unit in the ceiling (thus the ladder). He turned it off, tinkered a bit, and then turned it on. He said that if it doesn't get colder in the next 45 minutes to call front desk again. The elderly gentleman was very nice and friendly. Always smiling.
I was starting to get really impressed with this hotel's staff!
I didn't even need to wait for 45 minutes. It got cold really fast, which was soooo good as I was having an MCAS flare then. Now, I was truly impressed.
The Bathroom
The shower itself had a good stream of water coming out of it. It wasn't hard to rinse shampoo off my long hair. The water automatically heated up when you put the setting in the middle. I like cold showers better, but the water became too cold if I put the setting on the cold side.
The water didn't drain fast enough, too, so, it gets flooded quickly. Good thing I had our toiletries on a tray. I will show you our room setup in my next post.
Water flow was good, the bathroom was clean and nice smelling, and there was as shower door, so it was easy to dry the rest of the floor outside the shower section. This is very important for me as I don't want my son or I to slip.
The Bed
The bed was very comfortable and with the addition of two more pillows, it became even better. However, my son turns into a luchador when he sleeps at night, so I wasn't able to get a good night's sleep. 😆 But if he didn't move around and kick too much, I would have gotten some much needed sleep. The environment was quiet and the black out curtains are always appreciated. There's a digital alarm clock on one of the side tables. Whenever I woke up in the middle of the night, I could easily glance there for the time, instead of making my eyes adjust to my phone.
The Whole Room
All the chairs were comfortable and I liked the addition of that lounge chair. There were plenty of lamps, too. There was one standing lamp and lamps for each night table. There were several lights throughout the whole room, which is great because it allowed me to choose which ones I'd like to turn off that night, and which ones to turn on the next morning.
I'll tell you more about our stay in my next few posts. In the meantime, here's...
My Curated Purchases from KKV and Daiso
I got the medium pouches, the triple tape dispenser, and the last set of skirt hangers! These have been out of stock from my local Daiso for so long!
I mainly bought food from KKV (which I will share with you in my food blog), but I did buy some makeup sponges, one brush, and a sandalwood comb.
'Til then,
