Everyday Investments: How I Build a Beautiful Life the Soft Luxe Way

✨ 💎 Abundance is More Than Money

When people hear the word investment, they often think of money — stocks, savings, and portfolios. But the truth is, abundance begins in the everyday. The way you take care of your body, your space, your energy, and your mindset compounds quietly into a beautiful, abundant life.

🌸 Investing in Health and Well-Being

My body is my first home. Every nourishing meal, restful nap, and short walk is a form of wealth building.

I cook food that heals (even something simple like chicken soup or congee).

I rest when my  body asks — recovery is part of productivity.

Sometimes I sleep for 9 hours and then after breakfast or just a couple of hours after that, I get sleepy. That's my cue that my body is not well-rested, so I take a nap. Sometimes it's a 20 minute nap, sometimes it's 4 hours. Sleep has always been my healing tool, so I don't deny my body if she needs it.

Choose skincare that supports your skin instead of punishing it.

There are some products that I've been using for years (hello, Clinique!), but there are also products that I've used for a long time, but now my skin is saying no to. And I honor that. I honor what my skin wants, and not go with whatever is hyped at the moment. My skin has gone through so much these seven years, so I listen.

These Molang X The Face Shop masks are my favorite

Health investments are often invisible, but they give you longevity and glow that no luxury brand can buy. Remember the saying - Health is Wealth.

💰 Investing in Financial Calm

Soft luxury means peace of mind.

I Set aside a portion of income for future comfort — not just emergencies.

This will be used for when I see a bag or pair of shoes that I like. Or just one of those days when I want to pamper myself with a small luxury buy like a charm for my Pandora bracelet or an expensive piece of makeup.

Buying fewer, better-quality things that last.

I know it's pretty straightforward, but I'm going to talk more about this in my next post, so stay tuned for that.

Supporting small businesses and choosing ethical products

I love exploring the local markets when we travel. I love buying local products, especially those from artisans. I love supporting them as I, too, am an artist and have a small business. And I know how much hard work they put in each piece, so I don't haggle, unless I'll be buying wholesale. This is my way of showing support and respect to the artisans.

Financial abundance doesn’t mean more spending — it means intentional spending. When you know what you value, every dollar feels purposeful.

🪞 Investing in Beauty and Joy

Now you may be wondering why I always include beauty, makeup, and skincare in my soul posts such as this one. That's because number one, I am a woman. Beauty is important to me. No woman wants to feel ugly. And by the way, being ugly after 20 is a choice. What I mean by that is if someone chooses to go out unshowered, wearing a very faded 20-year old shirt, messed up hair, dirty pants with holes, dirty shoes or sandals with long, dirty nails - well, that's ugly, but that is also their choice.

Vanity aside, I believe that if you look presentable to the world - showered, clean nails, pressed, clean clothes, combed hair, that adds to your #2 - confidence. You don't even need makeup as long as you look and smell clean and your clothes are neat. I believe that self-confidence is a gift that you need to continously nurture.

Some people might argue that they don't care what other people think of them. Yes, sure. But that also says a lot about what they think of themselves, if they're allowing themselves to go out looking like that and smelling bad, right? That means they think very little of themselves, too.

A little shimmer stick that makes me smile, a scent that lifts my spirit, or a fresh manicure that makes me feel like myself again — these are emotional dividends. They restore my confidence and radiance.

Scents play a keyrole in boosting your confidence. Have you ever done a double take on someone who just passed by smelling so good? They know that you've noticed and they stand taller and walk prouder with that knowledge. You don't need expensive perfume to smell good. Just shower with a good soap that's a match for your skin and then layer your scents.

🧡 Investing in Relationships and Connection

Abundance expands through generosity — I am a naturally chatty person. I share my time, stories, and warmth, sometimes even to strangers. A simple chat with a loved one, or gifting a Glow Kit to people who are nice to me, is an energetic investment that multiplies my joy.

I get so much joy from making my Glow Kits, and even more when I hand them to someone and their face lights up like it's Christmas.

🕯 Investing in Your Environment

Your home, your desk, your pantry — all deserve love.

Right now, as I write this, my desk is a mess. And it's taking a toll on my creativity. I've been so busy these past few weeks that my desk has been neglected. We've been traveling a lot, and we joined a bazaar over the weekend. We've just been dumping receipts and product on my desk for weeks!

I'll make sure to remedy the situation tomorrow.

Organize your things beautifully

Over the years, I've been a practical organizer - I buy affordable organizers that aren't my taste just for the sake of organizing. Now that I'm in my soft luxe era, I really think about how I want to organize things. I've been looking for a way to organize my headbands for weeks now, but nothing has sparked joy so far. So, I'm waiting. Back then, I would've just gotten the first thing that I saw that will hold my headbands. Not anymore.

Bring in soft textures and clean scents.

A beautiful environment gives clarity and calm — fertile ground for growth.

I have a standard - fruity floral scents for me and only clean scents like citrus and clean sheets for my home. Sometimes I diffuse essential oils, but that's only when we need a mood or health boost.

My favorite throw. My son seems to like it, too.

My son and I are very particular about textures, I guess because we're neurodivergent. I didn't give this quirk of mine a lot of attention in the past, only when my son became a toddler. He started showing a dislike for specific textures and that has allowed me to explore my own preferences. I found out that I, too,  was sensitive to textures.

Suddenly, I'm discovering new things about myself such as the source of my distractions. One time, I found out that I couldn't focus on my work because the neckline of my shirt  was bothering me or I can focus more when my hands are playing with putty or a fidget toy that has a particular texture. This revelation has become very helpful in improving my productivity.

💫 Final Thoughts

Abundance is a rhythm, not a race.
Every small, loving choice adds up — like quiet deposits into your life’s savings account of peace, health, and happiness.

Luxury isn’t about how much you have — it’s how intentionally you live. And that, for me, is a wise investment.

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
