Soft Saturday Diaries: Slowing Down at S&R, NoBrand, and a Wonderful Dinner at Home

Some Saturdays aren’t for adventures.

They’re for strolling down wide aisles, discovering little gems, and coming home to something warm and easy.

This was one of those Saturdays — simple, unhurried, and unexpectedly lovely.

But first,

✨️ Today's Look Breakdown

🛒 Aisle Therapy

We didn’t plan to buy much, just our weekly water run. but I took pictures anyway — because I’ve learned that even the quiet days deserve to be captured.

Here are a few things that captured my fancy:

We love this brand and I am eyeing those new tumbler designs. But, I will not buy until the ones we currently use reach the end of their lifespan.

My SIL asked to buy some Rapokki for her. I had to send this all the way to Iligan!

She also likes Cheez-It, but her favorites were not available. As for me and my son, we like these Snap'd better than the original. We still have a pack or two, so I skipped these. SIL wanted to taste them, but was worried that they wouldn't fit in the pouch anymore as I'll be sending some hopia and fish crackers from Eng Bee Tin as well and they were in a cute box (of course, right?).

I think these are cookie jars. I didn't even bother to see what's inside!

Because I saw this big box of Koala's March! I really like this, but don't always buy it.

Like frozen Yakult!

My favorite chocolate in ice cream form!

We've tasted this and it tastes like the chocolate.

I'm curious about these White Rabbit Ice Cream Bars. I think I'll try them next time. Those cones below also look interesting.

I've never noticed these ready to eat Japanese food packs before! They have a big selection of rice meals and sushi.

This is a thing here. Brands and groceries come up with Christmas packs. Are these available where you are, too? Comment below! Tell me which country you're from and what they put in the Christmas packs.

I know one Christmas I bought a box of these to put in my godkids' Christmas boxes.

We tried these Turtle Chips. They were alright. Maybe I'll review this in my food blog

NoBrand

We went to NoBrand because I wanted to check another version of Yopokki for my SIL.

On the way there, we passed by Max's Restaurant and I saw their new gift boxes for their caramel bars:

The design, the aesthetic, the colors! I love it! It screams vintage but also modern.

Really eye-catching when they're lined up like this. I wanted to buy some just to get a box! 😆 Self-control. Breathe in, breathe out.

When we entered NoBrand, I gravitated towards the beauty products:

Clear packaging always gets me. It’s giving clean girl, Korean pharmacy haul, and Marie Kondo-approved all at once vibes.

I took photos because I wanted to discuss this with my team, and see if there's something I can use. I have very sensitive skin and I'm still healing an infection on my face, but my skin usually responds well to Korean skincare, so there might be some gold here.

Have any of you Glow Girls tried any of these products? I'd appreciate a comment! Just log in to your Google account to comment below.

This hand cream is probably safe for me to try

I really want to try this one.

Wonder if this any good? When I first tasted Calbee years ago, I really liked it. But the last time I ate some, I found them too salty.

Yes! I found these Bibigo Tteokbokki! I got them from Landers last month. Didn't know they were available at NoBrand, too. I really like this. The cheese flavor is not spicy at all. I told my SIL this is better than the Yopokki brand because she has a little boy who will eat this.

Really looks like Coca-Cola from afar. 😆

🧺 Restock & Ritual

After browsing through snacks and essentials, we checked out and headed home. No crazy haul, no unexpected sale — just a slow S&R day where I got to choose what to bring into our space. That in itself felt luxe.

I cooked the Chef Nic Spaghetti Pack (You have to read my review. Just click on the link) for dinner — it's fancy,  quick, and cozy. It was exactly what I needed.

Soft luxury isn’t about being expensive or curated for the 'gram. It’s about choosing what makes you feel cared for — even if that’s just a fuss-free dinner.

 🌸 Stillness Over Spectacle

This Saturday wasn’t made of highlights. But it was filled with stillness, care, and just enough softness to feel like a real break from the week. I was happy to have a slow Saturday, a welcome break from our usual hectic weekends.

Here’s to celebrating even the uneventful days — because they give us the peace we didn’t know we needed.

💡 Soft Luxe Tip:

Document the simple days.
Even if they feel boring in the moment, you might look back and realize they were full of the kind of beauty that doesn’t need to try so hard.

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
