Back-to-School, Soft Luxe Edition: 5 Tiny Rituals to Reclaim Your Morning Glow

I know school has started a few weeks back and you might have gotten into your usual rhythm or still struggling to find one. How does your morning look? If you're a stay-at-home mom like I am, you're probably tired and it's only 9 am. The sink is full, the breakfast plates and leftover ingredients for school lunches need to be put away. The laundry is calling your name. The vacuum is mocking you for ignoring it for so long.

But what if it's like this. Imagine.

The house is quiet. The kids are off to school.

You’re standing in the kitchen with a warm mug in your hand, staring at the sink… and instead of jumping into chores, you pause.

Because this year, you promised yourself you’d do things differently.

This year, you’re not just surviving school mornings.

You’re softening into them.

The Challenge of Back-to-School Season

For moms, Back-to-School isn’t just a change in routine — it’s a reset button.

It’s a chance to re-center, re-style, and re-glow.

So, I created this Soft Luxe Morning Ritual to help us embrace the season with grace — and yes, a bit of glow.

💖 Ritual 1: A Prayer, a Morning Journal & a Pretty Pen

I start my mornings with a prayer. I was raised in a Christian home and prayer is a big part of my life.

Journaling is another one of those things that help me keep focused on my path. Even 5 minutes of journaling in a beautiful notebook can clear the fog.

This pen has ran out, so I'm itching to buy a new set. Here's the set that I want to get next:

Get it on Amazon 🛒🛒🛒 : Zebra Sarasa Clip Pens in Vintage Colors

I love how smooth they write - and the colors are dreamy!

🫖 Ritual 2: Choose Cozy Over Chaos

That old robe? Time to upgrade. Wrap yourself in a textured waffle knit robe that breathes, flows, and feels like calm itself.

I have a white one. I'm looking for another color that fits my aesthetic and I am eyeing this:

🧖‍♀️ Get it on Amazon 🛒🛒🛒 : Ekouaer Women's Waffle Knit Robe

I want to get a few colors so that I don't have to keep washing my robe! 😁

🍳 Ritual 3: Breakfast Should Spark Joy

Use a mini waffle maker or sandwich press to make you smile — not just the kids. I have a multimaker to make pressed sandwiches, waffles, and those fish shaped treats below. My son also gifted me with a hotdog waffle maker.  He used his Timezone points (a local arcade) and got the waffle maker! 😁

They're not just for breakfast, mind you.  These appliances have saved the day one too many times when I'm too tired to cook something.  They give me and everyone in my family joy whether at breakfast or dinner.  It's so much fun to eat finger food!

I found my next buy. I will definitely get this Mini Cars and Trucks Waffle Maker! My son will get a kick out of this for sure! Get it on Amazon. 🛒🛒🛒

🧘 Ritual 4: Reset with an Inhaler

Before you tackle your to-do list, breathe in calm. Essential oil inhalers are my secret weapon.

I found these inhaler tube blanks that you can use to start making your own inhalers. Get them on Amazon 🛒🛒🛒

This is my trusted brand of essential oils. They have a starter kit, also available on Amazon.

If you want to make your own inhalers, here are my recipes for different inhalers during any time of your cycle.

Sacred Rise

Sacred Allure

💅 Ritual 5: Add Beauty in the Ordinary

I like to put random beautiful, but functional bits all over the house, so that I can reach for them any time.

There's hand lotion everywhere - on my desk, in my bag, on my toiletries stand. You know how dry my hands are . These are a must-have!

I have those small clamps all over the house. They're perfect for when I need to put my hair up when doing chores. That ribbon banana clip lives on my desk. I'm actually wearing it now as I type this.

You’re allowed to feel beautiful at home, too.

💄 I'm excited to try this Burt's Bees Almond and Milk Hand Cream

I've been looking for more banana clips from local shops, but couldn't find anything that I liked. I found this 7-pack banana clips on Amazon.

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
