When the Muse Returns Wrapped in Lace
I wasn’t planning on falling in love again that Tuesday afternoon.
All I wanted was to check one thing off my to-do list: make a prototype for a custom client order. Something I hadn’t done before—something outside my usual rhythm. It was supposed to be quick. Functional. Done and dusted in an hour.
But the moment my hands touched the lace paper, something stirred.
It wasn’t just craft. It was play. It was art. It was… me.
I didn’t realize how much I missed this.
The thrill of matching textures, of layering until it just feels right. The glint of shimmer paper catching the light. The weight of a good punch in my hand. The satisfaction of using materials I’ve hoarded, treasured, forgotten.
These are materials from 1996. I used to do a lot of scrapbooking with my mom back then.
I wasn’t thinking of selling. I wasn’t thinking of anything, really, after life got in the way and we stopped scrapbooking.
The muse had returned—and she came quietly, wrapped in lace and memory.
What started as a trial turned into a treasure.
A bonus journal—unexpected, imperfect, alive.
A new piece for me. A return to an old flame. A reminder that creativity doesn't always arrive through grand ideas. Sometimes, it sneaks in when you're not paying attention.
I didn't even think about the colors. I just got the shade that had a duplicate.
As I sat there, surrounded by scraps, ephemera, stickers, by leftover lace, I reaized the new possibilities.
This wasn’t part of the plan. But maybe… this is the part that matters most.
Welcome back, muse.
You were missed.
And this time, I’m not letting go.
