My Soft Luxe Friday Afternoon

I decided to do something aesthetically pleasing and therapeutic after a quiet little shopping run. While nursing my aching back, I decided to sit on the floor and surround myself with nostalgia. My childhood and teenage memories, scattered on the floor.

It’s probably safe to say that most (if not all) kids love stickers. But, me? I never outgrew my love for it. Stickers always find me in every stage of my life.

I’m doing some major Lady E Edit in some parts of our house. It’s quite overwhelming, but I’m excited to tackle it in the morning with my husband who is my assigned muscle. I hurt my hip and lower back the other night while doing my edit. I took several breaks by sitting down so that my histamines won’t surge. However, the repetitive action of standing, sitting, lifting was actually bad for my back and hip. I suddenly felt some sharp shooting pain that traveled from my hips to my knee.  I had to be in bed rest the following day.

Anyway, before I started transferring the stickers, I went down to wash my face to remove my makeup and get some chocolates, but being ADHD, I also got some wet towels to hang, got some dry clothes from the clothesline to fold, and then got my stickers.

Finally, I sat on my desk to enjoy 3-4 pieces of chocolate. And then I tackled this:

These are just some of the stationery that I’ve been accumulating since childhood. I have more, but I didn’t want to overwhelm myself, so I only got these.

I’ve been meaning to transfer these because the plastic envelopes are so old that they’re icky. Plus they’re different shapes and sizes. I wanted something cohesive.

Here are shots of some of my stickers:

I’ve always loved Sanrio. These are maybe from when I was 12-16 years old.

Oscar is one of my favorite Sesame Street Characters. The other one is Cookie Monster.

I have so many of these Baby Looney Tunes Stickers. I used them for scrapbooking back in high school.

These are my Hello Kitty Stationery from when I was in grade school! They still look pristine! ☺️ I do use some of them when writing to special people. Back then, my friends and I loved to write each other letters, especially in high school. We would pass each other in the hallway and exchange letters. It was such a great experience - tired from school and a long commute and then you sit down and read a letter from a dear friend.

While going through the scrapbooking items, I found this photo of my cat Dylan, who was a true Casanova. Look how he’s surrounded by my cousin’s Barbie dolls! And he’s just sleeping there.

Dylan was my super protective, very possessive, very territorial cat. He didn’t even like his brothers rubbing their cheeks on my legs. He would get angry! And he had a potty mouth. We had a neighbor who was cussing day in and day out and somehow, Dylan picked up some of the foul Filipino words.

He would call his brothers “tanga” (stupid) when he was angry. He did the same to my suitors! 🙄 He didn’t like it when there were boys in the house. He would immediately sit on my lap and glare at them.

But when he knew the coast was clear, he would go out and meet with the neighborhood ladies. I had to shoo away the whole feline female population in our street because they kept coming to our house, calling Dylan! He was living his best Don Juan life!

At 6 pm, every night, I had to yell, “Dylaaaaaaannnnn! Come!” Just so he’d come home.

I so love that guy. I miss him. I miss all my cats. I had many cats over the years. I stopped taking care of more after my last two passed, one of them, Ponchinello, from Dylan’s line. He and his cousin Chanel lasted 20 years. They were already around when my son was born and they continued living for many, many more years. I stopped because I couldn’t take the heartbreak anymore when they passed.

I digress.

Let’s go back to my task:

Now this envelope houses my confetti. This envelope gave me a hard time earlier!

It was so hard picking up the confetti from the floor! And then removing them from my fingers to place in the container.

I transferred them to these small containers so that they will be easy to get and to avoid spillage. The orange envelope has a lot of confetti that are mixed together. Good luck to me sorting them.

And then the mini cases went inside this bigger case.

As for the stickers, I put them in these cute Sanrio pouches. I think Sanrio is here to stay with me forever! I’ll never get tired of their products and of the characters.

I also found this pair of very unique scissors from Daiso. Japanese items are so kakkoi!

They’re quite easy (and fun) to use!

Here’s everything! The original envelopes were already categorized so I just basically transferred them to these Sanrio pouches with the exception of the character and seasonal stickers which were in one envelope.

I then put all the pouches in this acrylic box. Everything fit!

Thank you, Minion Bob for holding the cover

And here’s everything! I used the white mesh envelopes to house the long stickers and the stickers that need further sorting. I don’t think Daiso has bigger Sanrio pouches. I’ll figure it out soon.

With my new system, I’m sure I’ll be able to use my stickers more and my confetti more efficiently.

By the way, my Spanish Glow Girls took the throne yesterday, at 10,000+ strong! I was so surprised when I saw the numbers!  So, gracias mis hermosas seguidoras de España… ❤️ Thank you for your support and presence in my blog!

I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about you that feels so familiar… maybe it’s something quietly running in my blood.

How about you, Glow Girls, how did you spend your Friday afternoon?
