Soft Life Ready: My Weekday VS My Weekend Makeup Kits

There’s a certain kind of magic in knowing exactly what to reach for before stepping out the door. My weekday and weekend kits aren’t just about makeup — they’re about mood, rhythm, and the little luxuries that make every day feel like part of my soft life journey. Whether it’s a quick dash to my son's piano lessons and running errands or a full day out under city lights, these kits keep my glow intentional, effortless, and ready for anything.

There’s a certain confidence in having your glow packed and ready — like slipping your crown into your bag before facing the world. These kits aren’t just about makeup; they’re my way of saying, “I show up for myself, every single time.”

The Difference Between Weekday and Weekend Glow

I keep two kits because on weekdays, I bring almost everything by myself. You've seen my olive tote, right? Aside from piano lessons, we run some errands, and have our mini dates. With all of these things to bring, I keep my weekday bags small. I only bring the necessities. A Queen doesn’t need an army to command presence. A touch of balm, a swipe of color, and her quiet power does the rest.

We also don't stay out for too long during weekends, so there's no need to bring a lot.

Weekends are another story. We're out almost the whole day. Before I started my soft life, I only brought a lipstick and a lip balm. That's it. My foundation would be cakey or faded by the end of the day and I have nothing to touch it up. When I was single, I used to bring a decent sized makeup kit in my bag. Oh, how motherhood and life have changed me.

But, as my son says, I'm rectifying the situation now.

Without further ado, here are my makeup kits.

My Weekday Makeup Kit (Tiny But Mighty)

Weekday = minimal, functional, fast.

Clear case from Daiso

I love this clear structured case because the pots can stay upright, preventing spills. It's tiny, but it packs a lot.

Products:

  • Mini cream pots (BYS Cloudskin for touch-ups/Laneige Water Bank)
  • Peripera Ink Velvet (I've since changed it to a BYS lippie)
  • MAC lipstick
  • The Body Shop Avocado Lip Balm
  • Makeup remover cotton buds for quick fixes. Each stick has makeup remover inside
  • Floss (not pictured)
Even in this tiny kit, every item has a job, every detail thought out. There’s nothing random about a Queen’s glow — even the smallest pouch carries intention.

This kit is light, practical, and perfect for lesson days and errands where I still want to look soft and pulled together.

It's so tiny that it even fits in this bag:

That's the olive tote I was telling you about

My Weekend Makeup Kit (All the Extras)

Weekend = all-day adventure, soft glam with staying power.

This is my “long-haul magic” kit. The kind that sees me through city lights, late lunches, and unexpected moments that deserve a photo or two. If weekday glow whispers, weekend glow knows how to make an entrance.

I usually bring a larger bag because weekends mean long hours out. So, I also bring a larger makeup kit.

The kit is also from Daiso. I am in love with these kits.

All the contents of the small kit plus:

Makeup doesn’t make you powerful — but it sure feels good to watch a powerful woman use it like an artist, turning five minutes in a café bathroom into a full-on glow revival.

Soft Life CEO Philosophy on Makeup and Kits

These kits are more than products — they’re my little confidence companions.

A reminder that beauty can be light, fun, and soft — not a chore.

Makeup is a treat, not a task.

As for the kits, if you've noticed, they're both very affordable. I have other kits in my stash, but I only use them for travel. I don't like using expensive kits for every day because these makeup kits accumulate bacteria quickly, so I have to dispose of them every 6-9 months. If they can no longer be cleaned, I put them in the recycle bin.

My weekday kit keeps me grounded, my weekend kit keeps me glowing. Both remind me that beauty is about savoring small rituals that make life feel richer, softer, and more me. Maybe you’ll find your own versions — little pouches of magic you can reach for that whisper, “You’re ready, love.” Because this soft life isn’t just painted on — it’s packed, worn, and carried like a promise. A reminder that wherever you go, love, you’re already radiant. The kit just helps the world catch up.

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
