Soft Luxe Staycations: Red Planet Hotel Timog

Last long weekend, my family and I stayed at Red Planet Hotel Timog.

My sister texted me to say that we should join them at the hotel on that same day as we would go to Tarlac the next day, so I immediately packed our bags. It was 6 pm when I finished packing. It took me a few hours as I also had a lot to do that day.

I opted to wear something simple and did a simple makeup look as it was nighttime and I'll be removing my makeup in a few hours. I used my BYS Shimmer Stick for this eye look. More on that soon.

Mom and our driver, Kuya Don, picked us up and arrived before 8 pm.

We haven't had lunch, so I told them we should go to Circuit first to eat.

Their huge tree was unveiled. When my son and I went there before Halloween, it was still covered with a white sheet. My son called it the Ghost Tree.  😆

And look who's sleeping on one of the gifts! It's an Ayala Malls cat!

As I've mentioned in my previous posts, Ayala Malls take care of the cats that go to their open-concept malls. They are all spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and fed with cat food. There are volunteers that do this all throughout the mall. However, these cats are so spoiled that regular visitors to the mall sometimes feed them table food. They should really stop doing that as our food is bad for their kidneys.

We also saw this pen outside McDonald's. I don't know if these are mall cats or if someone owns them. I think someone owns them as these cats have breed. But they were still there when we went back another day. 🤔 Next time we go to that mall and they're still there, I'm going to ask what the deal is.

This is a feature of the mall that kids go crazy over. There's smoke/fog that comes out of the ground. Kids like running around this area. There's another one where water comes out. They like that, too. 😁

We wanted to eat at Ramen Kuroda, but the waiting line was so long, so I told them that we should just eat at Army Navy. The mall will be closing soon, too.

The three of us got tocino. Kuya Don got the beef tapa. This was good, but it made my tummy acidic that night. Couldn't sleep because of it.

We were the last customers at Army Navy. They were closing the store while we ate. They took too long to prepare our orders that's why we ended up still eating even when the store was already closed.

After dinner, we headed for Red Planet. It wasn't traffic anymore when we left. It took them 2 hours to get to us but we only took less than an hour to get to the hotel from the mall.

Red Planet Hotel

Red Planet Hotels have a mostly uniform facade and signage. I like that you can easily identify it from far away. The facade also looks clean and neat because of the simple design and font.

Grab is our local version of Postmates. They offer car rides and food delivery.

This particular hotel branch has a Grab Locker where the riders can leave your order, then you just scan a QR code to get your food. We didn't use this anymore as mom or my husband went down to get the food from the rider. However, I really like this feature especially for me, for example, if I'm alone with my son, I can order then take a shower and have the rider leave the food in the locker. Then I'll just go down to get it when I'm ready.  I hate being rushed when I just woke up, but when we're at a staycation, I normally need to have food delivered early especially if we're going out of town. I have to account for the delivery time. I have about 2 hours to get ready, so with the Grab Locker, I can keep going with my tasks without missing a beat waiting for the Grab rider to arrive.

This is the waiting area. There's also a water dispenser in that area where guests can refill their water bottles with hot or cold water.

Red Planet is a budget hotel, so I didn't expect much. We were gonna do a lot of traveling during the long weekend that's why we opted for a budget hotel. No sense in spending a lot of money in a hotel where we'll just sleep and shower.

They don't have a closet, only this clothes bar. This was our setup. Our hotel and sleeping clothes went into my hanging organizer. I put the clothes we were going to wear the next day on hangers and hung them

They provided a few plastic hangers. I took a photo of this broken one immediately as evidence that it's already broken. 😆

I wasn't able to take a photo of the bed as my son usually plops on it when we arrive in our room. It was filled with our pillows and plushies! 😁

This was my bedside table. It has my humidifier, water bottle, mirror, my toiletries, and my makeup.

There's a TV, but we really don't like watching TV when we're in a hotel.

I brought my ice box because I wanted to buy ice from 7-11, so that we'll always have cold water, but actually, the aircon cooled our water and it was enough.

This is my sink setup. There's a hand soap dispenser on the wall. I really liked that feature.

And this is my shower setup, as usual.

They have a 3 in 1 soap dispenser. It's shampoo, conditioner, body wash. They also have that corner floating shelf for toiletries. It's bigger than other hotels, but still won't fit our toiletries. 😆

Stay tuned for more of our long weekend soft luxe travel.

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
