In My Own Time - ART BAR

This set shall be mine, too!

I had some Alone Time last Saturday. The aircon guy was coming and I needed to be out of the house before he arrives. As you may know, I’m very heat sensitive. In the brutal summers of Manila, just staying a few minutes in a hot room will make me very red, flare up, cough, and dizzy. Things that could possibly lead to anaphylaxis if not addressed right away.

So, I made plans with my son to go out, but he had a tummy ache in the morning and so I was forced to go out alone.

My first stop was ART BAR. I was actually a little annoyed because the Grab driver got angry with me. He was dropping me off at the wrong address. He said he was following the pin on the map. But it was wrong! I told him to look at the address I booked. You can clearly see that this is the wrong address and even pointed to the gate with the sign. I told him that it’s not my fault that their map has the wrong pin. He brought me to the correct address, but he was so angry! He told me that he had another passenger waiting for him at the other pin and that he had to call her. He was trying to make me feel bad for telling him to bring me to my correct destination. I didn’t say anything anymore. I booked the correct address. I’m not in charge of their map.

When I got into ART BAR, my mood turned 360 right away because of these (including the photo above):

This set caught my eye right away. I wanted it, but of course, I had to research about this first. When I found information, I decided not to get it. At the moment, at least.

My son is an artist, too. But he stopped painting when his teacher left for the US. We still have many paints, but every time I see a set like this, I do a double take. Maybe I’ll use ours soon. I have been painting with watercolors a lot lately.

Aren’t twistable crayons so fun? And they protect your fingers from the smell! 😆 I’m always drawn to these Mont Marte art supplies. They package them so well!

Now this set… I wish they came out with this when my son was still an active painter. I’d probably buy this one day.

Here’s another drawing ink set.

These are the Stabilo sets that I found at ART BAR Baguio. I’ve been wanting that one above, but I still have a lot of highlighters. I’d like to use them up before buying some again.

Oh, these Mammoth Markers.. I immediately said, “I want!”like a child in a candy store. Good thing I was the only customer and no one heard me. 🤣 I truly wanted this and lingered in front of it for a while. But I need a purpose for it before I buy, so I sighed and walked on. It’s so affordable though!

But who knows? Maybe I’ll also buy this set in the future for my enjoyment. 😁

Now here is something on my wish list. I didn’t get them last Saturday because I had my heart set on another set. And I feel like my current level should be further refined before I play with this set.

Soon…

I ordered a few inks and am waiting for them to arrive before I buy more.

These will have to wait, too!

They have so many acrylic markers! And I’m glad because I just discovered these! Now I can try them!

I went up to look at the watercolors and found that Limelight also now has sketchbooks in their line of products.

I still have a lot of notebooks that I use for journaling. I would like to finish those first before buying these. There’s no shame in using just regular notebooks for journaling. But it’s also totally okay to buy expensive ones. I’m just in that season where I want to use up what I have first.

They were having a sale on Pebeo acrylic paints.

I was at the till, paying for my purchases when I looked up to my left and saw these!

Oh, that Monet pack is mine! I’m coming back for that. ☺️

I picked up something from this store that I was sure is coming with me on my next escape.. I’ll tell you about that soon.

This was a good start to my Alone Time.

I have more to tell you tomorrow.

Alone Time

My good friend Kitten and I were supposed to go out yesterday but she had some unexpected things come up. I needed to buy some stuff as I am packing for a trip and so I went alone. I actually enjoy going out alone as much as going out with girlfriends or MB. It gives me a chance to eat whatever I like to eat and explore new restos. It’s also nice to take my time when shopping. After paying my bills, I had a late lunch at Toast Box: I love Hainanese Chicken. I sometimes cook this dish but it’s too tedious so I settle for eating out. I’m so happy that there are now restaurants that serve proper Hainanese Chicken. Well, except that one above was sooooo bloody. It was swimming in blood when I pulled the meat apart so I had it changed. You know what Gordon Ramsay says, bloody chicken is poisonous. This is the second time I ate at Toast Box and in both times, the chicken was so bloody. After lunch, I started shopping. First stop was Beabi where I bought these: The Sakura thermos on...

Soft Luxe Travels: Day 1 - The Journey to Vigan Part 1

In this post, we will start our journey to Vigan! The Night Before After packing our things, I did a few things for myself to help me relax and decompress so that I can sleep. I'm a night owl and not used to waking up early nor sleeping early, so I have to be strategic.  I painted my nails that night after all my chores, so that the nail polish wouldn't chip.  However, I forgot that I needed to make pressed sandwiches for our breakfast the following day!  Because really, what’s a road trip mom without freshly painted nails and a last-minute kitchen hustle? 😂 So, I had to do a lot of washing and hoped for the best that my nail polish will not chip! Luncheon meat, eggs, Kewpie Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds at 11 PM while trying not to chip your polish. That night, we also tried the Ube Halaya from Amira's. This was from our trip to Tagaytay . I'll try to make a review of this on my food blog . With everything prepped, I finally let myself drift off—half excit...

Holiday State of Mind

Sometimes, a quick escape is all it takes to reset the spirit. Tagaytay always gives me that holiday state of mind… Even a short drive can feel like a retreat when your heart is ready to embrace rest. My son successfully finished his recital last Sunday and as a reward, my sister treated us to Tagaytay yesterday.  Getting Ready for the Trip I decided to use my BYS Golden Hour Palette for today's look. Makeup, for me, is part of the ritual—it sets the tone that today is special. Here are the swatches: From top to bottom: Polaroid, Candid, Aperture, In Focus, Portrait, Panoramic In Focus is slightly wet, like something between a liquid and cream eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous! I love Panoramic, too! Polaroid is a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the shadows in the Queen Bee Palette.  Here are the face shades: Highlighter: Illumination Contour: Ambiance I haven't tried Illumination yet, only Ambiance. I used it on top of my BYS Bronzer. It's a buildable powder, a littl...
