I Don’t Force Productivity Anymore — I Make It Beautiful
I dread bookkeeping.
Not because I don’t understand it.
Not because I don’t want to do it.
But because it felt dry. Mechanical. Lifeless.
And my brain doesn’t respond well to that.
I’m an artist. I need color, variety, textures, shapes.
So instead of forcing myself to “be disciplined”…
I changed the environment.
Today, I worked on my official records.
Yes — the BIR-stamped kind. The real thing. The kind that matters.
But I didn’t approach it like a chore.
I laid everything out in front of me:
A soft pink correction tape shaped like a cloud.
A tiny cat toast case that makes no sense… except that it makes me smile… and kept my receipts from getting chaotic.
A pen that’s a birthday gift from a friend.
My small Ukanmuri clip that held my book open.
A reading guide with planets, because why not bring a little universe into something structured? And it also doubles as a guide for all those tiny numbers and lines to protect my eyes from straining.
And suddenly… it shifted.
The task didn’t change.
But the feeling did.
I wasn’t forcing myself anymore.
I was sitting there, quietly enjoying the process.
Writing. Checking. Recording.
Finishing.
I’ve realized something about myself:
I don’t work well under pressure.
I can deliver, but I’m not happy during the process.
I work well under beauty.
I deliver while being in a state of happiness during the process.
So now, when something feels heavy or repetitive…
I don’t push harder.
I soften the edges.
I make it prettier. Slower. More intentional.
And my brain meets me there.
It’s not about avoiding responsibility.
It’s about creating a space where I actually want to show up.
And today, I did.
