When Everything Feels Heavy

 

Sometimes, the heaviness feels too much to carry. 

And I need to escape. 

Escape without leaving. 

Such was the case last Saturday. 

One thing after another was happening and it was weighing me down. 

So, I left. 

I got out of the house and wandered. 

I bought art supplies because art is one way I express how I feel. 

And holding a few new things lifts my spirits. Makes me look forward to when I sit down and use them. 

Art is like writing to me. 

I sat down and ate some good food with an old friend. 

We talked about some nice memories during our childhood. 

Laughed a lot. 

Then I looked at beautiful things.

Hello Kitty always cheers me up.

And no, I didn’t buy those pouches even though I really wanted to. 😏

I got one and looked at it longingly. 

Then quietly put it back on the shelf. 

That Barbie purse is nice, too

Revisited my childhood with these PEANUTS rotating acrylic pendants. I was a huge Snoopy fan when I was a child. 

And found these food groups pens from Zebra again. 

And for me, nothing is more beautiful than functional art. 

Art that I can carry and use every day.

These pieces instantly made me feel lighter.

As I touched each piece that I liked, somehow, the people who reduced me to background noise felt like a distant memory. 

I don’t fix heavy days. 

I soften them.

I didn’t try to get rid of the heaviness all at once. 

I just went somewhere that didn’t feel heavy. 

And basked in the lightness of it.
